Yes Gibraltar airport is quite scary. Fascinating to see people walking from one world to another! Gordon, do the merchants still give you change in pounds when you pay in euros?
John, again, you teach me about my country. Couldn't believe Ch'tis keep hard feelings towards Spanish. But I do know they are tough but the kind of people you can rely on when accepted. As to your barn genius, he should send his "wind" to the Germans may be… His engine looks like a V2 one dont you think so? What we call un prêté pour un rendu!. Well, lets say un "pété" pour un rendu !! |

Jean un prêté pour un rendu is equivalent to one good turn deserves another, right?

Yes, you're right, that device does look like a V2. That reminds me, I really must visit La Coupole, it's not too far from here. I saw in the news this week that part of a test 'Bouncing Bomb' has been found on Reculver beach in Kent. |

By the way John, you if you know how to ski next winter you could practice on one heap out of a former coal mine ! At the same time our friend bauble could do some bare foot on a lake !!! Unless he received his new shoes…

I mentioned Hesdin earlier - I discovered the town is twinned with Heusden-Zolder in Belgium, so a little bit of motor racing connection, although the association between the two towns is actually marked with a lttle truck from a coal mine. |

Me and Delta son had another lovely bike ride to Brighton yesterday. Took five hours to get down around 75 miles. It then took us nearly five hours to get back via trains and buses as Southern rail were working on the line.. Still had time for a couple of beers on the way home from Reading station. Just had to face the music from Mrs Delta.

Given the challenges of using public transport a pick up at journey's end (or maybe part way back?) could be a useful role. Don't know which way you head to Brighton but when I lived near Guildford - many many years ago - a lad's drive to Brighton might involve a stop at a pub about half way that offered good beer and hot sausages on the bar. Plus the then typical bar billiards tables, darts, etc. Back then completing the journey after an extended lunch ran the risk of a breath test but they were quite new. For some reason I was rarely the driver when we visited. If you happen to go through Bucks Green (as I recall) I think it was The Fox. If so, still there and has a web site. One of the more memorable pubs from the past. |

You will know next time to cycle back as well, and save the train fare, and get some extra exercise at the same time!

As you (and I) have said before- it wasn't just the great music Brian played in SOTS, it was the stories and memories he entertained us with during the progs. Only other DJ who can match him IMO is Johnnie Walker. |

After a couple of days juggling with new Passwords to get back onto this Forum that is the first Post that I've understood!. Anyone fancy a discussion about Achille Varzi?.
