jd yort should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
There are 24 entries already for the August 29th / 30th meeting out at Oran Park. With the dust still settling from the last round with Darren and Tony the racing should be very very intense. Throw Des in with the Vette hitting form and him having a sniff of the Championship it is shaping up as the best Sports Sedan meeting in many many years.

Grid capacity is 32 for the meeting so only a handful of positions left.

Darren Hossack
Tony Ricciardello
Jeff Barnes
Ian Wilson
Daniel Tamasi
Chris Jackson
Graham Smith
Damien Johnson
Phil Crompton
Graeme Gilliland
Scott Butler
Kerry Baily
Des Wall
Trent Young
Colin Smith
Damien Jameson
David McGinniss
Bob McLoughlin
Bruce Banks
Bobby Ervin
Fred Axisa
Anthony Macready
Shane Bradford
Nick Smith

I was able to attend the previous round at Oran Park and what a belter. Some fantastic cars, fantastic grid and some great racing.

Potentially the last national level races to ever be held at OP, and appropriate that they be Sports Sedan too with the category having such a rich history at this circuit.

I'm so glad I went, and disappointed I'll not see it again.

Going by the crowd at the Shannons round two months ago, I wouldn't say that's guaranteed.

There is a couple of cars there which are getting a run for the first time in a while including the old Greg McShane XB which has had a full rebuild.

Great weekend of racing from the Sports Sedans.
Anyone know what happened to Ricciardello in the last race? Must've been a scary ride. I saw him try to turn right into the dog-leg and he went straight on, getting airborne. Today's proceedings are a promoter's dream for the final round. Three drivers all with realistic opportunities to win this year's title. Go Tony!!!

I think it was the engine as there was a massive spray of oil on the track following the line he took and a few cars went off after he did. Not sure if it was his engine that went or someone elses, but it looked like it was Tony's.

Not sure if it was the engine. I was standing betwen Sutton's and the dog-leg and I swear something in the rear of the car broke. But you are right about the oil all over the road - it wasn't until 2 or 3 of them went sliding off that I noticed it.

Wow, four rounds, four different round winners and heading into the final round the man who was the perrenial bridesmaid for almost the whole of the 90s in his fabulous Supra no leads the series?

Is there anyone in the Sports Sedans less deserving of a crown, should it come his way, than Des Wall?

What happened to Hossack in race two? What a field! Who are all these cars!

Joe Said's old Fiat 124 Coupe! - What powers that car, turbo yes? The big XA Falcon - Chev or Windsor? Kerry Millar's Falcon - that an 80's X series car? What motor? What motor does Norm Stokes run? and Ian Wilson's EF? and the Jeff Brown Falcon? The two GTV6s of Mark Papadopoulos and Andrew Leithhead? Steve Kilic's Commodore, Simon Copping's Commodore, the Shipway... Toyota Crown???

And I should know but can't remember the Nick Smith Fiat 131, it's been around for ages with Graham Smith and Geoff Gillespie driving it.

Hope the turnout for PI is as good. We'll be there shooting for In Pit Lane although at this stage we're not actually covering any races.
We should have some footage for the news though.
It'd be great to see some of the NSW guys come down, I remember going up with a group of Victorian Sports Sedans up to Wakefield a few years back and the NSW guys were invited to return the favour.
Don't think it ever happened though, perhaps PI's a bit daunting for them.

Yep Geoff built it and raced , sold it to Graham who developed it further and raced it, Geoff got it back, raced it again and now Nick (Graham's son)has it!

Greaham Smiths Fiat was a 4cyl turbo when he had it.
