Youre prolly right about the pitlane idea. I also got slaughtered about the pitlane on my danish forum. The only reason i put the pitlane where it is, is, that it can be used for some of the clubcircuits aswell... Three pitlanes are a bit too many... Well... The oval on Monza i VERY steeply banked... |

Don't get me wrong....the pit lane could be made very safe with an entry from that other straight...look at images of any of the US Ovals to get an idea of how they do it....
It would aleviate any problem that the current one "might" cause...I don't know if it woudl cause one to be honest...I just raised the question for your thoughts... |

look at how much gravel there is at Della Roggia. Now look at the run-off at Lesmo 1. Lesmo one, is a fast corner, but it has less run-off than Della Roggia. Which must mean chicanes are more dangerous then fast corners, because circuits feel the need for more run off at chicanes* than at faster corners
*those with fast entries that is |

O... right. I get it.
However, I think the run-off is bigger at corners where the speed at which the cars approach them is higher. If you look at it that way, it makes perfect sense. The run-off at Curva Grande is fairly big -- in the sense of 'deep' -- but Della Roggia is even deeper. Same goes for Variante Ascari and the first part of Parabolica. |

That's exactly the reason...
It has to be calcualted on the speed of the corner iself as it relates to the stretch of track that is approaching it... If you have a long, fast straight that comes into a tight corner combination, the runnoff area has to be very large in case someone's throttle sticks, brakes fail or whatever....Della Roggia comes right after a fairly long & straight piece of the course, but lesmo 1 follows the Della Roggia chicane and is connected to it by a shorter stretch of track, and Lesmo 1 is a fairly sweeping corner in that image as opposed to being a sherp-angled corner combination like the Della Roggia chicane... makes perfect sense... |

Ah, this thread needs a bump methinks
 This is my latest creation. There were far too many roads for me to bother with run-off etc, so i just left it as it is. It's a Sportscar/Endurance/Proving Ground track. Runs clockwise, startline on rightmost straight. |

yep, but there are many other circuit combos as you can see. The long oval on the left is actaully slightly banked.
This is the would be Grand Prix circuit. |

I agree with royksopp about the Grand Prix circuit. Pirenzo, I think you've been studying the Lausitzring too closely! Imagine the endurance races that could be run on the full circuit there...

The oval looks like the speed circuit there, where Michele Alboreto was killed. Plus the endless variations are similar.
