Well... here's my 90s version. I wanted to use high-grip tarmac, but changed that back to gravel, because they didn't use tarmac in the (early to mid-)90s yet.

You probably figured out that the light grey track is the new one. I left the old track in there just for comparison.
The new track is quite a modern one. Not too long. Turn 1 is an 85-degree right-hander. Turn 2 is a sharp, 90-degree left-, immediatly followd by 3, a 180-degree right-hander. Two fast turns (4 and 5) follow. Next up is a tight left right chicane (6), followed by another fast right-hander (7). The next corners make up a sweeping, relatively fast left-righ-left combination (8, 9 and 10). A similar corner to the first follows (11), leading into a right-right-left combination (12, 13 and 14). Next up are the final two turns, separated by a short kink, one a 95-degree right, the other a 90-degree left, leading back onto the straight. |

Reminds me of Imola. Chicane-y.

Click on "post reply" (underneath the quick reply box)
At the bottom, just above the "submit Reply" box, there is a box that says, Attachment. Click browse, then find you image. Make sure it's no more than 400x400 pixels, and 1024Kb |

You're right, Lee. But you have to keep in mind that it's the mid-90s!
However, I've made a few changes to get rid of the chicanes... just for you! |

My Challenge:
You have to develop Anderstorp, Sweeden into a circuit that can be eligable for modern day F1... Implications: You must change / move the pitlane There cannot be more than 2 hairpins! |

Might be possible. i would be interested in keeping those downhill sweepers (there was no chicane at T3, just a flat out right kink). Nouveau monde is a cracking corner as it is , but bloody dangerous (a number of drivers and motorcyclists were killed there)
I'm not entirely sure what i'd do, but i'll have a go later or something... |

Here's my version of the new Anderstorp circuit. I made quite a few more changes to the corners than Pirenzo did, but I think it's quite an improvement to the old track.
I moved the start-finish straight to the enormous backstretch. After the start, turn 1 is a tight, almost hairpin-like right-left. Turn 2 is a fast right-hander. Turns 3 and 4 are somewhat like Parabolica at Monza, with a slow in and a very fast out. Next up is a left-hand hairpin (5). The following corners (6, 7, 8 and 9) are a fast, sweeping combination, much like Silverstone. A tight 80-degree right-hander (10) is next, followed by quite a fast left (11). Turns 11 and 12 are close-to-90-degree rights, not unlike the Lesmo's. They lead back onto the straight. I also included a shorter version of the track, which cuts from turn 1 to 5 and from 8 to 11. And here it is: Last edited by Lustigson; 19 May 2003 at 21:34. |

Here's my reworked Anderstorp. Reminds me a little of Rio, and I put the pits in roughly the same place and re-aligned the back straight to take it off the runway. This gave room for some large granstands overlooking the while circuit. I moved Norra and Laktar to provide more run-off and lengthened what is now the pit straight to provide a bigger overtaking opportunity into turn one. I added a short circuit two.
The top of the circuit is a little Mugello-esque, while the new Sodra turn is pure Monza. |

Well, this is a map from the early 70's i think.
Gold is the track as it was in it's former glory, fast, dangerous, extremely challenging. Blue is the track as it exists now, run down, disused, shortened because the built housing over the other end. Then there's my track, in Red. |

Very helpful Lee
Pits etc. moved into the blue area at the top. Red is GP track, yellow is club shortcuts. The old pits could remain for club use Paved area of runway and (presumably, given all the planes) Aero Club extended for run-off and 8-wide racing down the back straight |

I suddenly realised that my new pit complex can't be built where I put it. That is, if the runway is still being used. You can't put a large building right beside an air strip, now, can you?
