Yeh, I 'recommended' this one years ago. Much more interesting layout just due to the fact it'd make it unique. You'd get some genuinely low downforce configurations. Selby |

Like, could they not have a tight hairpin in the complex, then a flowing banked hairpin right on the exit back on to the straight? It obviously won't be anywhere near as fast, but it'd still be something resembling it that wouldn't require miles of run-off. Think a shorter version of China's hammerhead left, in to long, flowing, banked right on to the backstraight (obviously this version would be a bit tighter). Selby |

It is no accident that there is a lot of overtaking on ovals, you can position a car to make the overtake in the next braking or acceleration area, s-bends just force you into following the leader! |

There better be at least 5000 square miles of tarmac run-off in place. We wouldn't want to risk a mistake being anything more than a minor inconvenience.

Its a medium speed corner because cars can still follow quite close and a medium speed corner will generate more mistakes than a slow speed corner, where the guy in front will always be on the gas before the guy behind. You don't always want a high speed corner, because the cars can't follow. There are exceptions of course, Eau Rouge and the Indy banked turn being two examples, though generally a fast corner is a hindrance to overtaking for modern F1 and has been for at least 2 decades. |

Eau Rouge and the Indy turn are now flat, which is why there is no issue.
Do medium speed corners generate more mistakes than slow speed corners? Why would that be? |

Therefor I'd very much enjoy a circuit with no obvious overtaking zones, where the drivers would have to get creative. |

I think one N Mansell might disagree with you?
Although tbf that layout was opened up a bit from the very first layout! I tend to agree that top overtakers will always find a way unless they are in conserve mode! |
