Darren Holmes should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
from Trackday rules
Quote:
All participants must wear crash helmets of a recognised manufacture and complying with the current Safety Requirements of the BSI 6658-85A or BSI 6658 –85A/FR, or MSA/ACU/FIM/FIA standards. All helmets must be correctly fitted.
This might be a daft question, but does this apply?, I don't have one, can you hire them?

Last year at Oulton the circuit provided the school helmets.

Like others, booked with reg number before saw the amendments, and in the spirit of supporting the events, was hoping to do Cadwell as well as Oulton.

I'll wait for contact from MSV I guess...

I would like to bring along a non-marshalling friend, will he be allowed to drive?

Thanks for any information.

I believe you can have a passenger, but they're NOT allowed to drive!

I managed to book at the third attempt. It was my fault. I put a fullstop where there shouldn't have been one. I need to follow instructions and not think for myself. See you at Oulton.

Thanks to everyone at MSV for letting us out to play again. I'm sure it will be fun as usual.

1. You are right in your assumption that it is only two cars per track day for hot rides

2. You may take a non marshal friend with you but they will only be allowed in your car as a front seat passenger, they will NOT be allowed to drive.

Please don't break any of these conditions as you will endanger all future events!

Newbie

Hi everyone

My wife and I would love to have a go at the circuit driving days.

Does it matter that we have not done it before so we would be really green and need some help I would guess?

We have, however, completed a couple of circuit driving experiences at Lotus as well as a full days track driving course with them (understeer/oversteer - braking - lines - throttle control etc). However we have never used our own car on a track (Lotus Elise).

Would we be OK to do the days and are there to people around for help and advice?

If we can do the day, does anybody know where, or even if, you can get track driving insurance?

Also any advice with bone domes would be good.

The days are what are called Novice Days so everyone will be of a similar standard. The idea is to let marshals get the feel of driving the circuit without racing and destroying their prized possessions.

Try Competition Car Insurance for track day cover but remember to tell them it's for a marshals track day with MSV as they may well offer a discount.

Terrible-Tones: To reasure you - last year i was the same, myself and my wife had never done a track day. Last year, at least at Oulton, the offer was made by MSV that you could go out in one of the circuit cars (like the one used as the safety car) with an instructor who would guide you round for a session. Dont know if the same will happen this year, but they'll some who are more expianced at track driving who would be willing to hop into the passenger seat and act as a guide.

plus theres braking, apex and exit points marked with cones to help (tho they dont always help if its throwing it down, and your in a caterham and braking at the brake cone for knickerbrook... you tend to go striaght on as my wife found when getting a hot lap from a caterham mega grad driver)

I'm thinking of bringing along a 1965 e-type roadster classic to Oulton. Has anyone any experience of using the specialist track day insurance companies mentioned on the MSV site?

Very few people take out cover due to cost. If you do speak to any of them, tell them you are a marshal and this is an MSV Marshals track day.
