Patrick C should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
BSB-Knockhill

Is anybody else concerned about Knockhill's first corner?

Duffus Dip as it is known, a bit of a "Laguna Seca Corkscrew" if you will!!
Only this corner has a CONSTANTLY sodden wet through and boggy "grassy" run-off!!

A few riders over-did it going into the first corner on Sunday and ran wide onto said "grassy run-off" and came straight back onto the track into oncoming traffic bringing a wheelbarrow full of muck with them!!

FORTUNATELY they got away with with no major or serious damage to themselves or their bikes!!

But i counted at least two riders who were VERY luck to get away with it and one rider who had to take evaisive action to avoid one rider only to put himself on the wet grass and then he had to deliberately lay his bike down before he hit traffic!!

Knockhill's first corner run-off into Duffus Dip needs a major re-think before a rider is hit and seriously hurt, or is that what it is going to have to happen before anything is done about it??

I always find it extremely uncomfortable watching riders come off their bikes and land in the middle of the road with fast on-coming traffic.

I think several factors contributed to the close calls around Duffus: running wide in the first place, cutting across wet grass and mud on slicks and the track layout which meant riders were always going to end up joining or should that be 'intercepting' traffic at speed and from a nasty looking angle. Could have been very nasty indeed.

To be honest, this happens at a lot of tracks.
Craner Curves At donington seesn this sort of thing, the short circuit at Oulton saw Boardman get taken out lie this earlier this year in BTCC.

Its all in the nature of having a clockwise track really.

Imagine Kubica's crash at Montreal but the car running down the railing and into cars turning into the hairpin? Same thing really

Just to be a pedant BTCC use the Island or middle circuit, the short circuit is known as Fosters and cars turn right at Cascades when it is being used.

In deference to the bikers, Knockhill has moved the bank away from the inside of Leslies by a good 10 yards at the Bikers request, This opened the area out away from the apex of the corner for people who have run wide.
Over the course of the weekend serveral riders escaped using this new width that in previous years have hit barrier, or would have been forced down closer to the apex possibly resulting in a "rejoining circuit" type of incident.
