Let's make it mean something.

The fastest in the top 25 shootout automatically qualifies for the Top Ten shootout at Bathurst.

Good idea, although Bathurst is a long way away.

Maybe it could mean something for clipsal, similar to what they do for Indy or Daytona

At a minumum it should count as a win towards the most pole positions for year

Maybe the fastest in the shootouts is allowed to compete in the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2016!

The idea that the fastest car automatically gets a run in the Bathurst shootout would be a good one if it was a chance that that car would not already be there anyway.

My post you've quoted had nothing to do with the Bathurst 1000.

So you mean like Jamie Whincup and Chaz in 2014 at bathurst 1000. both missed out on shootout .

an advantage would be that you wouldnt need to qualify thus saving the edge on tyres.

Reckon it would be better for Clipsal though, just a few weeks latter

That could be fun (although expensive for a one race effort). No rev limit on the engine, choose your own gear and diff ratios, maybe run bigger rubber if it could fit, possibly better aero, plenty of good gear in the engine itself. A V8 running at the 12 hour but not under the V8 governing umbrella might even run a different size engine - perhaps a 7 litre?

Kinda sounds like a couple of Monaros from a few years ago.

Could be a nice way for James O'Brien to say "thank you" for the extra publicity this year.

Especially expensive for the Sports Sedan support race.

Missed the point again.I didn't mean run a V8 Supercar in the 12 Hour.I meant let the winning driver the option of driving in the 12 Hour in 2016 and not having to go to the meaningless drivel of the 2016 Test Day.

We can only hope that the 12 hour fanbois do. I dont hold out for much hope though.

However this years test day is the topic lets get back on track.

I like the idea of a some reward for winning the sunday shoot out. something more than money

I also think that Chaz will win on the FG-X debut

Fair call

But yeah the gap between test day and Bathurst is too long for it to be linked this way.

Theres a big chance of a clash every year from now on, as the B12h organisers will always have to announce a date before V8SC do.

Ah OK - you didn't say fastest driver so not clear. The drivers are likely to be required again for the 2016 test day but with no CWC etc you'd have to hope that there won't be a date clash again.

I have no problem with the test day as such and don't agree that it's "meaningless drivel" but the date clash in 2015 is bulltish and has most definitely not been V8SC's finest hour.

But I still dont see how 2016 will be different, if V8 Supercars/Fox/Ten dont schedule a date clash next year with the 12 hour wont that be an admission by stealth that they were wrong this year?

Or will they do a press release saying it wont happen again because V8SC will do something for the 'greater good' of Australian motorsport (see also: we stuffed up and have suffered badly for it)?

Remind me again, what was the reason for the clash this year?

then once you remember why, use some logic and intelligence

Channel 7 broadcasting the 12 Hour and V8SC wanting to prevent drivers from racing in the event and being broadcast via the network.
