Surfers Paradise Lap Records
Looking for any informaiton anyone may have on the Surfers Paradise track lap records that were in existence when the track stopped racing.
Had an enquiry from somoeone - and whilst I attended a couple of meetings there with the F5000's, I don;t have any historic informaiton on the track. Anyone have anything they can help with -ro can point me to someone that can help please? |

I think the Veskanda held the outright record at 1m05.2s; that lap was set on August 24, 1986 during the first heat of the third round of that year's Australian Sports Car Championship (found in AMRY 16). As for touring car lap records, that record was probably set during the 1984 Motorcraft 300 - the final Group C race - as I can't find any quicker Group A times, but I don't have any timing data from that race to suggest what the record is. A programme from one of the final meetings would have the lap records, wouldn't they? There was one on eBay a while ago, a programme from the final ATCC meeting there.
