Janis was driving the Spyker at te recent Monza test. I think he's fit to drive as he is now on the entrylist. http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans...ngages_gb.html

According to Squadronleader Peter van Erp, the Spyker team is better prepared than ever. They claim to have overcome the engine problems that hampered them last year, and improved on speed as well.
Despite of the new regulations for this year to slow the cars down, Spyker has been faster then last year on both Barcelona and Spa. The team did some pre-season testing and quite recently the Squadron did some high speed testing at Monza, in preparation for the Le Mans 24 hours as well. So it looks promising! The competition they're facing is pretty stiff so in order to get to the podium they need a trouble free run themselves and hope some of the frontrunners will have some problems. But to finish first, you first have to finish! And that's something Spyker didn't do yet (apart from the non-classified finish in 2003). I think Spyker will have the speed to qualify in the middle of the field but they will move forward in the race, as their driver line-up is better then most of their competitors. I think a top 7 position in the race is possible on speed alone. If they finish the race on that position I think that will be a good result! But this is Le Mans so everything is possible. Dxk1 allready mentioned the Panoz winning in 2006. And I can still chrystal clear remember that #86 car, that was 5 laps in front of the Panoz at 12 hours. If only... |

Great comment Stephan.
I was there in 2006 and the Panoz was the most reliable for sure. Just doing their laps to really hang on in there. As I can remember it was a real massacre in the GT2 group in 2006, but the rain of 2007 and 2008 has fogged my memory or was it the beer??? I really hope Spyker do well this year, and they owe it to their fans to finally make it to the finish... I keep my fingers crossed, But I really think they have 'upped' their performance, although I miss the 'real' Spyker sound... |

I am sorry for that, I wanted to post the pictures in this thread but I don't know how. I thought I just link to the Spyker forum where I posted them also, but apparantly that's not working...

Obviously Spyker wants to make as much money as possible. No merchandise for the fans. Maybe the cap...
I think that's the hand of snob Victor Muller at work here, only catering for the well funded folk. Too bad. Not even a nice shirt displaying the Le Mans name and year with the car/brand. A missed chance if you ask me... |

Good race from Spyker - seems all the testing was worth doing it.

Yes, a flawless race. They were a bit slower than hoped unfortunately. I did not expect them to be exactly on the pace of the fastest Porsches and Ferrari's, but 5-10s per lap is a bit much.
I guess the lack of cilindersize really hits you at Le Mans, more than at other tracks. |

Indeed very good! Did you guys saw the video's they made during the race? Really nice and all HD quality.
http://www.vimeo.com/spykersquadron I do get the idea that the team did everything possible to get to the finish. Don't push the engine or the car. Just take it easy and make sure you stay going all 24 hours. And it paid of they had no problems whatsoever. One a few puntured tires and the changes the brakediscs and pads. That's all. Not even an off or a spin as far as I know. |

Yep ..... I must admit that the car didnt sound as special as it used to do , but if this is what works for them ..... great .
I got some Spyker merchandise at Le mans , which I now wear with pride . Well done to them , they deserve this and better in future . |
