the Toyota 2010 F1 car

http://www.f1today.nl/20100525/toyot...in-keulen.html

Not sure if it is mentioned anywhere else overhere but here is a link to the 2010 Toyota F1 car which could have been called a Stefan GP car this year.

There looks to be a lot less to the lower frontal area on that Toyota compared to a lot of the 2010 grid - which leads me to think it would either have been very very good or very very bad!

Love the car park shakedown though, maybe HRT could have done with some of that before Bahrain.

I hear it was faster than the Red Bulls and Ferrari's combined.

Haha.

Car looks pretty good. To bad we never got the chance to see it run as a Stefan GP.

Yeh that whole rear looks remarkable. I'd love to know how this car would have faired. We may have seen a bit of a different looking grid if this car proved successful.

Rumour has it that Durango is interested in the car for next year, if they would get an entry.

I love the sarcasm here.
Ive seen in various other threads that its "supposed" to be fast, maybe even quicker than the Red Bulls.
But why test in a carpark and not a racetrack then?

I would like to know what tyres they had on the car, Stefan could not get a hold on tyres for testing but Toyota can do so.

Kinda looks like they tried to put it in the shredder judging by those rear wing endplates!

You are not allowed to test a current design F1 car during the season, other than for a limited number of days of straight-line testing or demonstration tests with demo tyres fitted.

I know that but as they are no longer a team entered in F1, how come they have tyres?

Umm says who? It is not a current spec car as it has never raced and the tyres are not current spec etc. they are also no longer members of anything, so how can anyone enforce anything?

FIA.

You can only run a car that is at least two years old in order to get around the current F1 car testing regulations (see recent Schumi tests). This ensures that no data can be gained and/or passed on to others that may be of use during the current season.

It is a current spec car that has passed crash tests similar to that required by the FIA and has been built to current F1 regulations.

It is not necessary for the car to race or even be fitted with the correct tyres for it to be classed as a current F1 car, McLaren's MP4/18 being a good example.

I was going to say, it'd still be considered testing as this car could be sold on to another team, which has been rumoured for a little while.

ART Grand Prix are supposed to having a look at it as a basis for their car next year.

As HRT have broken their ties with Dallara, maybe they should think about getting the Toyotas. I'm sure they would be much better than what they have at the moment.

I think that looks cracking. It will be such a shame if a new team doesn't either run it or copy parts of it. I'm sure it would have been competitive this year and will still be reasonably decent next season.

One question, is that Kobayashi driving it?

Yeh, it's Kobayashi.

Stider, you're right. They may as well buy this chassis, repaint it and get racing. I honestly don't think it could be worse than what they have currently.
