I was wondering if two races each weekend would work? Lets say a 3 - 6 hour race on Saturday afternoon / evening and then maybe 90minutes on Sunday. That way they could have other races on Sunday as well to attract more spectators. The short race would also fit easier into live TV, if that really makes a difference.
LMP2, CN and GT Open (GT2 & GT3) cars would be nice |

1. ACO ran the 6h of zhuhai in 2010 and 2011 ILMC season because peugeot pushed for a chinese round. 2. The 2 chinese rounds of fia gt1 have been folded last week, and reading some rumors, also the WEC 6h of shangai race is going to be folded as well. |

lol. and what should the aco do exactly? teams will race where they choose to, some teams chose the wec for a reason. the aco already supports the regional series by letting the class winners race at the lm24, even winners of that joke lmpc class get an invitation afaik. also, a special attention to the alms: I thought lm24 invitations are given to greenx winners, AND plm winners, no? if this is not support i dont know what is.

Other than the class issue, should ELMS create a prestigious race event other than Le Mans for that series in the vain of Sebring and Road America?

because? for a start these are lm24 classes, and that race is now a part of the wec. There will always be wealthy privateers in both of these classes who can afford running in the world championship. I think its best that the teams decide which championship they want to enter. Its not like there is a lack of interest in the lmp2 class of the world championship, quite the opposite. And if the teams want it and they can afford it, why not let them race there? Besides, the only n-american lmp2 team running in wec is starworks; most other p2 teams would be in the lms, which has a strong lmp2 field. When was the last time the alms had a helthy p2 class? 2008. After that, its going downhill and the wec has nothing to do with it (maybe just the starworks team would be in the alms among the wec runners in p2 class). There is simply no interest in this kind of racing there, and banning lmp2 in the wec will not change that: look at the elms p2 field, its pretty strong. they only have a couple gt entries (most european teams that would run in elms gte are running in the blancpain series or national gt3 championships) but im sure they will work something out next year.

Well, a few of European LMP2 teams drive WEC instead of LMS due to this years calendar being rubbish. Fingers crossed next year will be better.

Donington update: OAK have changed their mind again, they have decided on entering both cars #24 and #35.

Bad News, Curtis, Race Performance and Boutse won´t be in Donington. The grid will be VERY poor with 15 cars

The ideal setup for the WEC is to work with the two series and not stand alone. They could have 5 races in Europe in conjunction with the ELMS and 5 races in the States with the ALMS. If we face facts it is going nowhere outside of these two continents anyways. Also they should only have LMP1 & GT Pro classes forcing the privateers into the other two series unless they want to buy the more expensive toys. You end up with a schedule looking something like this
12 Hours of Sebring 1000 KM of Spa 1000 KM of Monza 24 Hours of Le Mans 1000 KM of Silverstone 6 Hours of Austin 6 Hours of Mosport 6 Hours of Laguna Seca Petit Le Mans Asian Round |

is LMS that decided to split with WEC events for the 2012 season already before the 2011 season! they thought to have a massive lmp2 grid, at least 20 full season lmp2 entry, but ironically, teams like boutsen, murphy etc.... prefers to run in WEC european events as wild card than compete as competitors in ELMS....
The situation is more pathetic than the fia gt1 one... |
