stunning as always ken, i was there, but as you'd expect trying to shoot motosports with my kit was a little bit impossible! unless you like lots of background and very little cars!

great day out though

what day were you there?

They look great, how do you get the colours so vibrant? It makes the image really stand out.

They are taken with my Canon 1D MK-II or MK-I using colour matrix 3, which shoots high chroma colour. This setting is very accurate for the cars colours, and even at drastically reduced size those pictures are pretty much spot on.

Here are a couple more, taken at Druids:

The weather went from heavy rain to very bright sunlight over the weekend and the light was changing by the minute. A bit of a challenge at times. It was pretty awful for these shots, as well as being wet.

ken love the GT40, shame i didnt see it on track, *dribbles*

*gets arty on yo asses*

it was a bit wet to have the camera out most of the time during my 10am paddock walk so i just snapped a few shots, i like this arty one, just because i love the mustang badge, its so evocative of big rumbling V8's and badly executed car chases so i snapped it up!, annoyingly for me i was slightly off centre so its proved very difficult to get everything to look absolutely horizontal, either way i like it. the rest of the day for me was spent watching the races as photographing was getting to be too frustrating!

I am probably being a bit thick here, but in the above statement you say that you use colour matrix 3, which shoots high chroma colour - is this a setting on the Canon Camera? or software.

I took plenty of shots at the Gold Cup - (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/924nut/oulton.htm) but I am the first to admit I have a lot of learning to do- having just switched from Film to Digital (Konica-Minolta 7D) it seems I learn something new everytime - so any words of wisdom are always appreciated.

Kenny, like most of us here, I've been watching the drop gorgeous Chevron B16s since they first came out - one of the best ever looking cars IMO. Have to say your first shot of the yellow one is perhaps the nicest B16 photo I have seen yet! Brilliant.

It is a Canon 1 series thing. There are two ways to achieve it. Either in-camera for Jpegs when shooting, or in RAW conversion. Great for cars, not for people.

Andrew, I must agree with you regarding the B16. There was eight of them in the two races. I am also a fan of the B8 which was released when I started photographing GT races back in the late sixties. I'm not that keen of some of the seventies models like the B19 which lost the plot in looks.

Kenny, the one I always looked out for as a kid in the late '60s was the pale blue B6-BMW powered one of Chris Skeaping. Looked identical to the later B8. He would usually win but some great scraps with John Lepp. Derek certainly created some very pretty cars.
