rx4u should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
TVS rallycross?

Researching the above programme/series, how many events were held and over which years I had been told up until at least 89 but information is rather scarce. Also the event winners was it along similar lines as the shell oils series did they run at the same time? Many Questions so little answers
Thanks in advance

One thing I've always wanted to know for direct whether the events were actually all filmed on the same day. I always presumed that they were and the TV presenter saying, "last week Will Gallop did this, etc." was just for TV effect. Would make no sense to have multiple events with travelling and track hire. But never bothered to find out for sure...

It was all the same event as I have the 89 meeting on VHS. Hardly any crowd there.

Thundersports should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It was run over a weekend in mid December usually a week or two after the GP. One year there was a fair bit of controversy about supercars starting heats near the back due to there being drawn grids. Gollop and Rennison through there toys out the pram and resorting to parking there cars across the front of the grid in protest.

I thought that was actually in protest at being given warning for contact with each other? Gollop parked it on tumbledown hill and renny then parked on the grid. Good times.

I think there were a few, but it never really caught on, was after the GP and most people I think wanted a rest, and get ready for Lydden Winterseries.

Think it ran from 85 to about 88. Maybe 87.

Right did not know that it ran at the same time as the Shell Oils stuff that I have seen December was busy way back then one thought maybe it was only 89?

Definitely a little later than that- I'd agree with Barrie's earlier suggestion of '89, as I'd moved to Kent earlier that year and I remember watching it on TV (in fact probably still have it on VHS somewhere in the loft)- IIRC it was shown on a Saturday morning or lunchtime.

TVS lost their ITV franchise to Meridian in '91 and ceased broadcasting at the end of '92.

Just recently unearthed! TVS Motaquip December 89 and this event was second one,Will having one the first TVS in 88 and subsequently winning the 89 event 16/17 December. Michael Shield parked his 6r4 in protest on track at this event similar to what happened in 88 which I guess is what someone said earlier. Pat Doran was in his Sierra and Squibb was in his xtrac, if anyone can help with coverage would be ever so grateful.
