I know a way to prevent any of that carp.

Don't 'create' any more street circuits....

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
its not actually v8 supercars that have joined up

its IEDM a designmer of v8 supercar street circuits

I do wonder why the v8 site carried the information though

maybe they are going to combine the above two suggestions

ultra long straights on a street circuit with hairpins at the end

I think we've had that before, at Dakar, Avus, and elsewhere.

Surely the number of street events in the series will decrease severely in the next 12 - 18 months.

Potentially down to 2 or 3. Lets hope it can fall alot further.

The interesting thing about that link up is that iEMD has in its DNA probably a longer history of designing motor racing facilities than Tilkie GMBH.
Maybe John Howe could bring some of his Weathered Howe experience to Tilke to make future F1 circuits more exciting.
A bit of good old Aussie knowhow might help.

D.R.T., I'll still take Gold Coast in its truncated form, Homebush, Townsville, and Adelaide. Also, apart from potentially reinstating Eastern Creek for the Sydney area, those other three locales don't have suitable, permanent replacements.

As much crap as street circuits get, they can be quite decent, have nice surroundings, and get the people nice and close to the action. Also, though there are complaints about money-losing events, I have no doubt that many find it easier to stomach relatively small annual losses over a big lump-sum dump into a new ur refurbished permanent facilities. Bite-sized chunks still go down easier than the whole hog in one shot.

Of course, people complain about quite a few permanent road courses being out in the boonies. Then again, the ones in closer can have a tendency to get ploughed under by developers, often after the neighbors start making a fuss, and get the place's operations restricted (Oran Park anyone?).

Positive as a sledge hammer again.

Indycars coming back to the Gold Coast...hmmm. With the status that the stand-alone Supercar event has grown into, why not pitch and run them at Homebush, or dare I say it, your beloved Eastern Creek?

That might be a way of preserving two street circuits

Is there an expectation to be positive for the sake of being positive? I didnt realise this was a V8SA fan boy site?

What status does the stand alone Supercar event have?

Does a buy time coverage from Speed TV does not provide an automatic status?

Attendances, economic impact, international coverage and general local buzz is all in decline from the Indy days.

With talk of city redevelopment ahead of the comm games, latest chat has the whole event in jepordy.

I have to echo DRT here... what status?

Didn't the QLD Government put out a release a few weeks back saying they were reviewing the event?

Indeed they did.

Indy Cars are the only thing that's going to save that event.

Homebush ain't looking too rosy either. The new owners of V8SA aren't going to put up with haemorrhaging that kind of money too much longer.
