16-17 September 2000.
Well i shall be there and so will the Datsun. Who else?
Were expecting 40-50 historic touring cars, divided into over and under 3 litre.
Plus 50-60 Historic racing cars and sports cars.
Also we're expecting 90 regularity trial competitors, I can hear Crash test cheering from here.
This year's theme is 75 years of ford in Australia.
The only genuine GT40 in Australia will be doing demo laps with Kevin Bartlett at the wheel. One of each model GTHO Falcon will also be on display as well as just about every other Ford made in Oz. Now Crash is excited?

Good idea, I'll try and organise one.

You've bought FOOD from the pitstop cafe, when? how? I've bought plenty of stuff from there but I don't think any of it could be called food!

Troy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I'am glad the meeting is back at Lakeside this year. Queensland Raceway is not really the best track to have an Historic Race meeting. Also, Lakeside is one of the best circuits to watch historic touring cars race. I can't wait!

G'day Troy and welcome to ten-tenths!
I agree, old cars just don't look right on a modern circuit and watching the big touring cars sliding their way round the back of the circuit is certainly something to see.
Hope to see you there, admission is free to the pits so come on over and say G'day.

You mean you haven't seen me wearing a sausage and onion roll, covered in tomato sause from the cafe?? I don't actually like motorsport, i just go for the "food"

Plus what's the go with the proper cafe they have been setting up at tracks lately, selling coffee, cakes and pastries?? They set themselves up at the truck meeting....i didn't see anyone go near the thing, but the temporary butchers shop was doing a roaring trade

I think you answered your own question there Crash, think about truck racing fans and the sort of people you meet in a nice cafe, not the same group are they?

Now if they run the cafe at a Super Touring round or an MG Car Club Day or a historic race meeting then defintely they will do well, that sort of person you know (raises one eyebrow).

I guess at a Super Touring meeting, it would probably double attendances, heck, there has to be somebody there to ensure the place doesn't blow away with the tumbleweeds

Well entries have closed and we have ended up with just 41 Historic Touring Cars. A little less than we had hoped for, but still a very good field, which we shall split into over and under 3-litre for the heat races. The fastest 32, regardless of engine size will go into the feature race. Unfortunately our friends in NSW have let us down with the touring car entry, only 8 of them will be travelling up. Jose Fernandez and Ross Donnelly will not be amongst them. The local touring cars will however be out there en masse. This might actually be the biggest ever turn out of Qld Historic Touring cars. Where the NSW contingent is very strong however, is in the ranks of the late model open wheeler cars, Chris Farrell, Richard Carter, Michael Henderson et al will be there and there should be a very large grid for the AF2, Formula Pacific/Atlantic/Mondial races. Anybody care to guess the fastest lap, these boys are worth watching at Lakeside.

I can't count, there are actually 43 historic touring cars entered, as follows:
1 Austin Lancer
5 Mini Cooper S
1 Anglia 105E
1 Toyota Corolla
1 Mk1 Lotus Cortina
2 Mk1 Cortina GT
1 Mk2 Cortina GT
1 Alfa Romeo Guilia Ti
1 Fiat 1500
1 Datsun 1600 (That's the one you're all to cheer for)
1 Lotus T/C Escort
1 Prince Skyline GT
2 EH Holen 179
1 XM Falcon 170
2 Mk1 Capri V6 3.0
1 Vauxhall Velox 3.3
3 '64 Mustang 289
2 Chevy Nova 327
9 XU-1 Toranas (Yes, that's right 9 of the bloody things)
1 E49 Charger
1 XT Falcon GT
1 XY Falcon GT
1 HT Monaro GTS 350
1 HQ Monaro GTS 350
1 Boss Mustang 351

Plenty of variety there, and something for everyone i think.
