A drop of Radweld and some duct tape should do it!

Once I've got the steering wheel back on and you guys have given it a bit of a shake to get the gravel out, I should be OK to finish the race

It came as a kit car but the instructions were a bit vague - I think this bit goes in here somewhere...

Baz,
You should have come across to the post (or did you?) It would have been nice to say hello. I was on yellow when there was this big bang, loads of dust and on turning round the realisation that maybe things needed a bit of flagging.
I'm glad I didn't see it coming I might have found out what colour adrenaline is.

PS it wasn't fixed in time for the next race. IMO the FBMW drivers gave a very good account of themselves again, not withstanding the other couple of incidents.

Did anyone see the one they dropped off the hook of the recovery truck!!! Bounced quite well I thought.

It didn't so much drop off the hook as the strop broke. Given that Race Control were instructing them to get it off the track quickly there was some justification (maybe). It should still have been done at a speed where it could have been steadied. Thank goodness it landed squarely, if it had hit on its side "ouch"; as it was the suspension looked a bit second hand. Strop failure can happen and the load although swinging wasn't excessive.
I wonder when the lifting tackle at circuits is tested as a H&S requirement (if at all).

We had a similar discussion at a meeting recently, where one of the recovery crews (who also do road/m-way recovery)were asked how often they tested their strops, and gave a very un-encouraging answer apparently.
