Gentlemen, if you look again, it wasn't the fault of the snatch vehicle - the strap the car was on broke in its centre. Both ends of the strap were still on the hook!!!!

Please get your facts right, and stop chest beating about we being better than you - we are supposed to be ALL on the same side here.

The main thing is, was the driver OK? I assume we are talking about the early lap roll at Druids

whilst the above is a little toungue in cheek, we all make mistakes, we all have accidents and misfortunes, ropes and chains do break, if that was a regular event then that is different, but a little mean to critise so quickly.

well for a start the wrong type of stroop was used
a loop stroop should have been used and make it as short as possiable
it would have also been better to remove the forks and spread the weight on the jip to get a better balance so the car will sit in the middle
a person should have steaded the car
All stroops at silverstone are renewed after 2 years
and No i have never dropped a car

For heavens sake stop being so superior. So you are a Silverstone marshal. Ever been anywhere else?

As predicted. Please, don't respond, let this thread go to were it belongs. Please understand: every time you respond, you kick it up to were it should not be. Be wise, just leave it (please)!

I'm sure you were but what you have to remember is that only Silverstone and Donington are the only circuits with MSA licenses to run "snatch" vehicles. Every other circuit runs "recovery" which, as I am sure you will agree is a different kettle of fish. Recovery vehicles are instructed by race control to simply "remove that vehicle", which they do, to the best of their ability.

Having said that you still didn't answer my question - have you ever been anywhere other than Silverstone to see how other circuits operate?

I dont write many posts on here , but i find myself in total agrement with jcbrule. The problem with the snatch in question was that it was allowed to swing violantly without being steaded by anyone, this caused the strop to break or pull out. we do have a duty to be as careful as we can with expensive equipment.

As neither jcbrules or alonso were there to see for themselves I find it sifficult to see how they can form an objective opinion. If we are to have a 'us and them' situation between Brands hatch and Silverstone then that can only be bad for all concerned. As a marshal who visits Silverstone and has many friends there I find this thread totally out of character with the regular Silverstone guys. In fact I have had two of them on post with me this weekend at Brands.

Lets all admit that accidents happen, strops break and not all in life is as perfect as one Silverstone snatch member. You would do well to know that the drivers of the snatch vehicles are in fact employees of Motorsportsvision and not D+G nor BARC or any other racing club.

A perfect time to close this rather inflammatory thread.
