Now I'm hearing that if he does good at the 24 hours of Daytona- He might want to try doing the Indy 500.

Does anybody know....has he ever driven open wheel before?

Hope he's not getting too big for his britches!

Maybe you could check out his web site? They might mention all his previous racing experience in his bio. I think it's harvickracing.com? Haven't checked it out in a few months. He was in the Truck series from 97 before going to busch last year (2000). Before that I think he raced in the Winston West?

This is great news. I wish more NASCAR drivers would take part in this event. Beside Stewart and Harvick, isn't Jeff Burton going to race in the event in a lower catergory car?

And why don't Jeffy run this race since it is only one race and since he isn't doing the IROC series?

Hey Joe- That was kind a 1-2 punch there! LOL.
Great Idea! It would be VERY interesting to see how he would hold up Stamina wise. I highly doubt it though, he's taking a big hit for not doing the IROC series. He's taken a stance of "I'm too busy" How would it look if he jumped over to the Indy 500?

BTW- Thanks Lars- I did go & check Kevin's site out. Didn't see any open wheel experience there. But being how he is- I can see that it wouldn't stop him IF he wanted to do it.

At one time I thought I heard Kyle Petty was going to race in it again this year? ...he ran the 24 hours a few years back.

I am pretty sure that Kyle ran in last year's race in a AGT class Porsche 911.

Well, I don't care if every driver that ever raced in Winston Cup entered this race, I still have zero intrest in it, and won't waste my time watching it. As to Harvick running the roller-skate race in May, he should be consentrating his effort on winning the 600, at Charlotte, instead of globe hopping, and diluting his effort. He wants to be a Winston Cup Champion, he won't be diluting himself like this! A STUPID move!

Well Lee...there is an old saying...you can take the driver out of the race, but you can't take the race out of a driver.

Yep, but there's also another old saying, "to each his own" Goes with opinions, and particular likes and dislikes. I still think it's stupid, and a dilution of his effort.
