Stanford

This is stanford, a 4.2 mile, undulating, fast circuit, set the rolling Austrian hills.

Turn one is a fast left hander, which dips in the middle, before climbing steeply towards the very tight turn two, a sharp left hander. This corner is very wide on entry, but quite narrow on the exit, meaning cars have to scrub off alot of speed that was carried down the pit straight.

After turn 2, the track curves gently left, downhill towards turn 3/4 a fast right-left sequence, where a formula one car can take it at about 160mph. The track then curves again to the left, this time, it's uphill and sharper. by now, an F1 car will be at near enough top speed.

Turn 5 is very hard, the braking zone is blind, bumpy and uphill, the same sortof gradient as Eau Rouge. The apex of this corner is quite far around the corner, so that cars can go through the immediate following right hander as quickly as possible. The exit speed of this section is extremely important, and if a car runs wide, it will be eaten alive on the very long straight that the corner precedes.

At the end of the straight, we reach turn 7, a really scary corner, which is nearly taken flat out if the driver is brave, the track falls away on the exit, meaning it's very easy to run wide and onto the grass if too much speed is carried into the corner.

The track now begins to plunge downhill, towards the lowest and flattest part of the circuit. turns 8- 11 are fairly slow and twisty, the apex's are all blind, and the kerbs are very rough. Exiting this section the track straightens out, before kinking on the braking zone to turn twelve which is a simple run of the mill left hander. The exit of this corner is perhaps the most important of the whole cirucuit, it dictates your speed and momentum down the whole flat out section leading to turn one.
In between that section, there's a challenging S bend, whcih is bumpy and uphill.

Enjoy?

Yes, I like it. It's challenging for drivers. For TV coverage, it might be a bit long though.
