OT- tragedy in California
My great sorrow goes out to those who perished and were injured at an off-road truck race last night in California.
Horrible events remind us that that this is all just supposed to be sport, and what can happen when every precaution is not taken to keep it that way. Otherwise, it just isn't worth it. RIP to those who lost their lives, and prayers for their families and the injured fans. http://www.aolnews.com/nation/articl...ght%2F19594078 |

Tragic to hear of such an incident. It's sad when a driver is killed doing something they love (fortunately in this case, that didn't happen) but it's even more tragic when innocent fans are taken too. Condolences to those affected by such a horrific event.

Yes, accepting the risk is the choice of the few.
Everything else is damnable, and society sees motorsports in that darkness on days like this. There should never be days like this. |

it is really terrible
and almost as terrible was the crowd assault the driver with rocks- as if he was to be stoned for the incident and take all blame. My condolences to the families... |

Twas a horribly, ugly incident all 'round. I wish a quick recovery for those injured and comfort to the families of the ones lost.
Hopefully there will be some positives from this horrible incident, and they will do something to separate crowds from the vehicles. Seeing this and other similar events over the years, makes me feel that a tragedy was inevitable. |

I have to add my condolences, tragic incident all round.
It does emphasise the importance of control of such events, I have for years feared another major incident in an internaional rally. People frequently object to paying licence fees and entry fees but safety is one thing that such things pay for. Given the litigous nature of American Society I doubt we have heard the last of this Agree with everything you say Jagtech Last edited by old man; 16 Aug 2010 at 10:19. |

Again, with what everyone else has said, an enormous tragedy. Saddening, yet perhaps inevitable given the risks at such events.
It just goes to show, we may be in the 21st Century, but accidents can, and always will happen. Its our duty to make sure we minimise the risks. |

You guys are a good lot.
Few racing fans in the U.S. even took a moment to ponder this tragedy. |
