Cottman Retained by Indycar to Create Regs for 2012

Not sure if this was in any othe threads but there was a small item in Tuesday's Indy Star that stated that Indycar has retained Tony Cottman's company to be in charge of the new rules and regs for the 2012 chassis and engines.

Barnard isn't some rube off the range...good move...

Sorry if this is elsewhere...I was on vacation until today and just read back through the sports pages of newspapers on my porch.

This might be ok but why not ask a drivers panel to set up and anowners panel to work out the idea first this new regs are just more of the same in a new shape and cylinder count

Because the IRL would have to give up control- and it's all about control. Has been since the split (USAC/CART then CART/IRL).

The drivers would do what their owners tell them to do because that's who pays their paycheck and there's a surplus of capable drivers out there, and the owners would play politics instead of doing what would be best from a sporting perspective as they've always done for the last 30 years.
