Yvan Muller

So, the flying Alsatian is calling it a day: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/126302/muller-to-end-fulltime-racing-career

Four world touring car championships and one British is a pretty good return on a career, plus all the Andros Trophies. And never did a man drive a Vauxhall Vectra more quickly or more sideways. Adieu, Yvan.

I didn't, nor did I forget he was British F2 champion, but the WTCC and BTCC titles were his most prestigious.

the 95 French super touring was not a walk in the park as there were works cars from BMW, Opel, Peugeot and Alfa Romeo

True, but it also doesn't exist anymore.

His car control learnt from ice racing was something, time without numbers we saw him manage to keep control of the car where others would have thrown it away. His Touring car titles are impressive and he has earned his retirement. Competitive to the end

To have remained competitive into his late 40s is impressive, though it's increasingly common in touring cars (just look at the BTCC).
