Info request Re David Weir
Does anyone recall a driver by the name of David Weir. I think he may have raced capris in the late 70's. He may have been involved in touring cars during 80's as well.
Cheers |

Is this the David Weir that raced a GT40, then the Ecurie Evergreen Lola T210 in 1970/71, and also shared a 512M at Le Mans in 1971?
Or another one... |

Thanks, I don't think it can be the guy we met unless he is very modest and forgot to mention his drives in a 512M or he has a very fertile imagination about his past as a touring car driver!
Anyone else come across a David weir racing touring cars? |

Can't remember if I'm right.... was 18 years ago. I was pit crew/gopher for Tony Harding, (Slick 50 Class A's....RS2000 / Capri 3.0 / SD1 Vitesse 87-92)
I seem to recall, if it's the guy, he was damn fast and it was probably not best to go door handle to door handle with him if you didn't want new panels Don't recall he did it much past 87/88 season. There again I could be talking TAB (Toffee & Bol....ks) |

Actually I have just found out that is probably right, all apart from the close racing bit, Tony just jogged my memory that his motor was absolutely shiney immaculate (Black capri) so probably would have avoided any contact. He also raced in the Prods.

I raced in the Slick 50 Ch/ship which David did up to 1991, his Capri was always very well turned out and he was always very quick. After that went into the Prod saloons racing a Cosworth Sierra, I can remember one meeting at Donington where he had 2 Cosworths entered, one driven by Ian Botham. If I remember correctly both didn't finish due to mechanical problems, Ian only getting to the first corner.
If there is anything in particular your after I can have a thumb through old timesheets (Slick 50) or programmes. Simon |
