CTCRC at Silverstone Double Header 16th/17th May

Its looking like a good one with all championships and series run by the club on the race card including the much improving Classics and Historics (Pre66), Post Historic Touring Cars (Pre74), Group 1 (Pre83), Pre-93 Touring Cars now sporting much better grids and the totally revamped Classic Thunder now joined by the Ford Boss boys giving stunning grids and blistering racing.

Joss Ronchetti is bringing his 'Fastest Sunbeam Lotus in the World' out for its first race in the series this year to try to take the challenge to the V8 Seirra, Cossie Mk 2 Escorts and a host of other exotic saloon cars.

Oh and to the very pleasant lady marshal that was so symphatic when I damaged my old 70's Camaro at last years Walter Hayes supports as she said it was her sons favourite car well its all back together and looking great (the Yellow bus) and i will be racing that in the Post Historics but as its fitted with an interim Apps K spec engine out of Richard Lloyds (RiP) 2008 Tour Brittania James Hunt replica Camaro entry don't expect too much, to finish would be nice!

G.Walker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Wet, windy, dry, the weather was unpredictable! But the racing was enjoyable all day on sunday.

I videoed a bit I filmed from the stands and will youtube it later, I am sure our official photographer will be posting some picture up shortly as soon as he has processed them, I will stick a link up here if he does'nt.

There was a great race long battle between two of the Capris for the lead in Group 1 as Dave Howard never made the grid due to engine maladies in qualifing. An excellent Post Historic Touring car race with 4 cars going for the number one spot cuminating in a first ever race win for hard trying Jason Christie in the RS 2000 again without David or me come to that but we won't go there as its becoming boring now. Yes there was some good racing all over the weekend.

Sorry to hear about your engine woes Al; hope can be fixed and you're out again soon.

Yes; some excellent racing all weekend. Really enjoyed being out in pre-93 for first time in too long. Had a great 2nd race with Malcolm and Steve - very clean and enjoyable. I just need to learn to pedal the car a bit quicker next time if I'm to give Craig and Roger anything to worry about

I will put another one together as I have most of the bits but I think i will have a week or so off from it. The joke was I did some mods on the chassis and it felt better than it had for ages infact since I had to jack up the suspension to run in Post Historics so i was confident I could make the time up with the lower power 'reliable' engine I bought in good faith. 4 laps into qually and it grenaded big time and I mean really big time as evident from the piece of piston hanging out the sump! One thing for sure though the underneath of this nearly 40 year old car will never rot with all the liberal coatings of oil generously smeared regularly down the floor pan and chassis :-)

BTW I would like to thank fellow competitor Phil Waller for entrusting his immaculate old Avenger GT to me for the 2nd Pre-93 race, I may have started and finished last but at least I got a run out for me money and actually finished.

Plenty of pictures here http://www.splitsecondphotographic.co.uk/ Select catagoury and scroll to bottom of page for Silverstone ones. He even managed to get some of the repaired old beast before it expired.
