that and if you have Ferrari or RB money why give up the advantage.

massive budget reductions would solve spending on aero but still do little to keep people working. i suppose someone could just design a better race car but the rules are too restrictive for that to happen too. DRS is actually a fairly good compromise imo.

Whatever the reasons, massive aero is here to stay unfortunately.

Autosport and Racer have published some comments on the effects of DRS:

Formula 1 drivers and teams are adamant that the importance of qualifying has not been devalued by the fact that overtaking is now much easier.

The role played by tire strategy and use of DRS means that drivers can come through from further back to triumph.

I totally agree: it hasn't affected the value of qualifying. Or to be more precise, qualifying is less relevant than in the late 2000s, when it was too relevant - today it's adequately relevant.

The problem is that DRS has devalued races. Overtakes are too easy, there's no real fights anymore.
