Dog & Lemon Guide
Unsure of right forum for this.
Anyone see news item attributed to editor of above guide yesterday? Interesting thought.....would really set things off here. Surprised comment hasn't got up to a 10+ page rant already. |

One a side track, Chrysler has announced it is stopping poduction for a month. I cant see the Aus government letting Holden and/or Ford australian operations go down the can. I can see a federal bailout package coming soon. I just hope it doesnt go the same way as the Mitsubishi saga. I dont see why the feds dont just buy the operations of both companies and keep them for the people as a public assett, ie Telstra, back when we owned it.

Closer than you might think Dazza - think back to 1980 and Chrysler selling the local operation as part of a bailout. Unfortunately this has a precedent...

Whilst jobs are needed, and job losses not wanted, it is about time businesses (any business for that matter) stopped looking to governments to give them funding because they haven;t been able to run their own business properly and profitably. Read some of the reports now emerging about the vehicles the US car makers have stockpiled because they failed to read the market properly ('Sure - big V8's are going to sontinue selling like hot cakes...' Have any Hummers been sold in the past 6 months?) |

ACL bearings are going through the hoop apparantly as well. Im not saying let the feds buy in, Im saying get the feds to buy the whole shebang, Ford Australia and/or Holden, lock stock and barrel, get peter costello running the both of them, build them back up, and if that means the end of commodore and falcon so be it, and then flog them off again when the market is there. easy. That 10 billion that Kevin 747 gave away to the single mums and druggies could have been better spent on fixing other things. Heres a thing, why do the gov cough up 200 million or whatever to car makers as a grant package and get didly **** for the money, why dont they instead say right, you make festivas or barinas and they are 15 grand, we want 25000 of the ****ers, and hand them out to people earning less than say 25 grand a year...

So, lets see if I've got this right: Not happy about the 10 billion given to "the single mums and druggies" but; Happy to give all of them a new car??? |
