5 star video tubthumped, in-car footage following another car seems a great way to study lines. I'm doing Donington on 30th Jan I'll watch it a few more times before I go.

Stu.

BTW. nice recovery from what looks like a pretty late turn-in at coppice on the first lap.

Yep, concentrate more on turning in at the right point. I would say that you are turning in too early (common mistake) for a lot of corners and are also not using all the track on the exit, let the car run out on the exit.

The 'interesting' moment at Coppice was deliberate from Gary, as i was close he kicked the back end out for a laugh.

Our lines around there are much better now BTW... dropped about 5-6 seconds from the times posted in that video now

I'm the lead car in the above vid, thanks for the comments - Would like some feed back on this vid also from Donington - I'm open to all comments positive or not - Going there again at the end of the month, need to improve my lines

I'm thinking i'm still turning in too early for most corners

See this! It is easy to correct, just make sure that you make use of all the track. This is especially important on the exit where you should unwind the steering lock yourself to achieve this rather than relying on the cars natural tendency to straighten up. All other standards apply, do all your braking and gear changing in a straight line and get the power on at the apex.

Happy trackdaying

Thanks, in the original vid that Tub posted, was running new road tyres and an open diff, the vid I've just posted was running old Michelin clio cup slicks and a Quaife ATB diff, much easier to get the power on at the apex these days )

I sit watching the videos at home and can see where I can improve, but still make the same mistakes on the day < bangs head >

If you've watched the video , any other tips??

Looks like you are struggling with McLeans. I used to run a little wider through Schwanz so I could turn in and straighten up earlier and get over to the left allowing me to turn in at the right point. It looks to me as though you are too far to the left through Schwanz which then pushes you out to the right forcing you to turn in early to Mcleans meaning that you are apexing way too early.

Bit different in a race though! I once went through Schwanz 4 abreast and we all got through there, and McLeans, unscathed. I used to really enjoy Donington.

On the run up to Schwanz there's an access road on the right hand side, do you think that would be a better turn in place , I can see what you mean about the entry to McLeans.

Out of interest, what did you used to race?

I would just recommend that you move well over to the right after the old hairpin (don't compromise your exit by trying to move over too early) so you give yourself more straight line braking space prior to McLeans. There is no need to be so far over to the right that you are on the kerbs though.

If you want to see a video of a radical going round Donington have a look on the radical website. www.radicalmotorsport.com

I cannot profess to being the greatest racer but I have raced donington more times than I care to remember.
Looking at the video I would make the following comments:
Turning in too late for Redgate as you dont seem to actually make the apex
Old Hairpin is quick and if your turn in is accurate you could carry more speed
You seem to turn in too late for McLeans and Coppice and the second kerb is just for motorbikes
At the chicane you brake too early and need to be closer to the 1st apex

Its a great video and you look to be having a lot of fun, which is what it is all about.

Thanks Kickstart, others who have watched the video made similar comments.

Hoping it's dry enough on Sunday for another crack at it.

Anyone attending Donington this Sunday

I've approached Roamer imaging, and the guy is coming on Sunday to take pics of the track day, images in both electronic and various sized print form will be available to order from his website http://www.roamer.com

He is getting photographic access to the track so will be in all the best places.

Previews will be on his site after Wednesday next week. []

Hmmm. I'm bored so your lucky.

Overdriving big style from lead car in lap one hence massive time loosing cockups at Old hairpin, McCleans, Coppice and Chicane. Lines not a million miles off after but way too late turning into Redgate on first 2 laps then too agressive on last lap from camera car (hence early apex and slow exit), need to use the curbs substantially more on apex and exit and less road needed at Starkies. Better not even start on what you boys are doing at the chicane because you cannot afford that much info.

That will be £1000 for run down please. I take Visa or mastercard.
