Interesting that story quoted as saying Bobby Pearson will be bringing 3 EVO's to the Mount instead of the 2 on the entry list. Driver combinations will be interesting in that team, especially if they are entering 3 cars.

The grapevine is saying that the second Pearson entry is out as well as the Metchler Evo. Possibility is that Pearson may take that one over and run just two cars.

The story was written (and photographed) on Jan 19 when three Pro-Duct cars were testing at Oran Park. There was talk of three Pro-Duct cars running with two drivers each, but they've since dropped to two Evos (the blue and yellow cars).

There was a Black R35 GTR at Queensland Raceway the other day in tarmac rally spec doing 1:19's...

It's a solid margin (just under 3.5 sec) but I reckon the heavy GT-R would burn through tyres and fuel more rapidly than the lighter evos.

At the Sprint Bathurst event in 2008, Motor Magazine's Michael Taylor lapped a stock R35 GT-R around Bathurst in 2:47.9398, a time I'd consider to be ballpark with a well-driven STI or Evo in stock form.

Steve Owen's pole at last year's 12 hour was a 2:28.88... I don't see the GT-R going any faster than 2:25 or so.

It's great news. Could make for fun news too, eg
Steve Owen waxed his opposition and accepted a $5000 cheque after qualifying fastest for today's ArmorAll Bathurst 12 hour.

Mechtler EVO looks like it has been withdrawn - down to 46 cars. Also interesting to note that Jason Bargwanna may be a late withdrawal due to his commitments in Abu Dhabi a few days later.

I was down at Eastern Creek today for the 12 hour testing, the following cars were present,

Yellow Pro duct Evo X
Easts Evo IX
Conroy Evo X
Holt & Morcom BMW 335's
Shephard BMW 130i's
Osborne Mazda 3 MPS's
Windsor Impreza RS
Thomson Alfa 159
Walden VE SS
Willis BF UTE
Johnson VE Ute (i think)

New paint schemes for some of the cars, Easts Evo and Walden SS look great.

Bargs tested the Evo yesterday and will most definitely compete in the 12 hour.

There is a story out of Melbourne that Mr Bright may be joining the 12 hour field, perhaps in a Sportswagon?

He did an excellent job of hustling the big red monaro aafter midnight in 2003, I think the Sportwagon would be right up his alley.

Interesting that Ingall can't compete in the 12 hour because he has to focus on Abu Dhabi. Yet Brighty is competing in Abu Dhabi as well, and is rumoured to have stuck his hand up for a gig. Strange wouldnt you say ?

I wonder who Russell has upset :-)

Searle has been offered drives but all require him to bring a five figure cash sum.
He's opened two businesses in the last two years and has chosen to invest money into those rather than pouring $20k into a day's driving.
He'd love to do the race but the unfortunate reality of this sport is that you've got to pay to play.

I suspect Mr Denyer may pass on the race to focus on his renewed Sunrise commitments.

Since he currently leads both classes I would guess you are correct. (Assuming both races are the same day of course.)
