Alwaysfirst should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sunset Raceway

As some people seem to be getting slightly fed up of the g-map circuits I have created this, Sunset Raceway! I'm actually very happy with this track. Whilst the layout is simple, only 7 proper corners, I feel it is one of my best due to it's simplicity, combining gradient changes, overtaking oppertunities, fast, sweeping corners & slower, but still interesting & challenging corners.

Here's a tour of the track! Starting on the long pit straight we have quite a long run down to T1, a hairpin similar to T1 at Fuji. The straight is flat but as soon as you enter the corner the track starts to rise quite steeply. An uphill straight follows the hairpin to T2, a fast sweeping corner that is like a looser 130R. The circuit cintinues uphill to T3, another hairpin, looser than the first with an entry that is slightly looser than the exit. The uphill gradient is greatest through this corner & heans that the corner is similar to Parabolique at Dijon. A short downhill straight follows the hairpin into T4, a double apex sweeper that is heavily cambered. This is a fast corner that leads onto a downhill straight that has a noticeably steep drop halfway along it. T5 is another hairpin corner, though this time there is a very steep downhill drop on entry making for spectacular last minute lunges. The short flick through T6 follows into T7, a very long slightly downhill corner. The profile of the corner is slightly parabloic allowing cars to follow each other easily onto the main straight. Again, mid-way through the corner there is a sudden drop that increases the speed of the corner (combined with slight banking at the start of the corner) as well as pushing cars to the outside. Slipstreaming can then occur down the long start-finish straight.

Hope you like it as much as I do!

Almost forgot-there is also a short circuit that bypasses the T3 hairpin, including an esse bend instead.

Short and simple ...

Similar to Fuji isn't it. Lots of similarities, but I actually like it.

Good job!

I did try to do it in the Fuji shape but in such a way that it would be nothing like Fuji to drive. Far more elevation change & more sweeping corners. Kind of an original Fuji mixed with the '90s version + elevation changes on acid! That was what I was thinking of. Still simple can be great-Original Silverstone, Reims, Rouen, Fuji, old Hockenheim.

Oh my, now that is a very nice circuit, simplicity can wrok so well, this is a good example of that. The rise up to T3 would be great, and the drop into the cambered T4... oh yes... that would be awesome to drive.

I love this track. I don't know why, it's just so simple, but to the point. Great!

Reminds me of Mantorp Park in Sweden as well. Very Nice.

Great track - reminds me a bit of Dijon, with a tighter first corner. Last corner looks amazing, and the short circuit's just as good. Maybe a bit short, but that doesn't matter

Possibly, but remember that the main straight is getting on for a mile long so it aint exactly short.

Nearly, maybe slightly shorter. Longer than Fuji's & a tiny bit longer than Indy's or Sepang's. Maybe I should have made it slightly shorter!

No, no no, nothing wrong with a bit of high speed length.
God forbid that racing cars should go fast

I like the last chicane. It's a pretty good overtaking opportunity.

Yes, but the pitlane at Fuji is shorter than the one at Sepang.

Remember that the last chicane would have a corkscrew-like elevation change so whilst it may look boring there would actually be quite a drop there.

Thanks TR!
