Equivalency formulas?

Whats the ratio for turbos & superchargers? also is there any penalty for 2 strokes?

Forced Induction equivalence = x 1.4
Rotary Engine equivalence = x 1.5
Rotary + Forced Induction equivalence = x 2.1

There is no penalty for 2 stroke.

Some clubs do have a reduction equivalence for diesel of 1.4 which offsets the forced induction equivalence for turbo diesels.

Just wait until someone comes along with a totally dominant turbo engine that actually works in a hillclimb chassis, I think the equivalency factor will get reviewed! (we're working on one!)

Dont think that a turbo engine will ever prove to be the right choice for hillclimbing, we have ran a super charged engine for many years, you just cant beat the power delivery at any rev range, wish you all the best proving me wrong.

I agree that Supercharging delivers far more manageable power, I just wonder why there are not more people taking that option?

What about both as in the Delta S4 Group B car?

Also what happened to Comprex?

Just for interest, the new 'small' Gould coming out this year will be a 2L class turbocharged machine.

Happy new year Phil

Have they changed it then as it was originally supercharged ala Tony Hunts Force?

How's the Busa install going ?

Hmm up to 714cc blown to get in the 1 litre class. I cant think of many bikes engines off hand around that above 600. Some 650s off road, I think theres a Ducati just above it. Anybody know different (I'l admit I am not very up on bike engine sizes).

Hi Dave, hny,
This is the info. that Sean gave at the end of last season, reinforced by some comments at the show last week. We, and I suspect others, were warned away from the Rotrex unit as it gives unsuitable power delivery for a hill climb unit.
Our 'busa turbo is being developed by X-tec in conjunction with Motec, and will have some novel ideas akin to a WRC engine, so expect lots of popping and banging!
(This is starting to look like a major thread hijack!)
Did you sell the car?

I suspect Hitech is refering to an anti-lag system which would probably not be evident during the noise testing - but should sound awesome going up the hill!

Up here in Scotland there are a few evo/scooby road cars running anti-lag and they don't have problems with the noise testing.

Nic Mann has proved Turbocharging is right (as long a you stuff a helicopter turbine on it to prevent lag )
