F1 Prospects should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The main difference between USF2000 and the F2000 Championship is that the former caters to young guns on the move up the racing ladder as part of the Road to Indy while the F2000 championship is a mix of young guns and veteran drivers who race for the the fun of racing and not to follow any particular career path in motorsports (I am speaking of the veterans of course). The USF2000 uses a spec chasis while the F2000 guys do not.

That still makes F2000 the stronger series. It has much bigger grids than US F2000, and one round each at IndyCar (Watkins Glen) and ALMS (Lime Rock Park) race meetings.

F2000 isn't part of 'Road to Indy', but that isn't much more than a marketing exercise.

I wouldn't go that far. It is early days yet for the Road to Indy program and from what I have been hearing there are a lot of plans that they weren't able to properly implement in 2010, especially when it came to having more race weekends featuring all three series. The IRL know that they have to do something to stem the flood to either stock cars or Europe with American drivers and the Road to Indy combined with some serious interest in Karting by the IRL bodes well for the future. Hey, at least they are doing something!

If US F2000 is so attractive why were there only 13 starters at the first round compared to the 30+ for this weekend's F2000 opener?

USF2000 is unfortunately another revenue raiser for teams that have had FFord sitting in their barns. They offer a promise of 'Road to Indy' What does this mean and how do they offer it. Some of the fees teams are seeking are obscene for this technology and they should be ashamed of themselves. Unfortunately their will be drivers that have budgets that are prepared to throw the budget away.

The first race already has shown the inequity of racing with no real scrutineering of weights/restictors allowing the leader to streak away with some 70 pds less weight than others. How is this fair. I would be seeking a refund for the 1st round or the 1st round should be declared null and void

It is early days yet gentlemen. The series has just been restarted. If the drivers themselves start complaining that is one thing but none have from what I am hearing.

If the series does not prove to offer value to junior drivers as a legitimate development series it will not last, period. I will reserve judgment until after the season is over. The teams involved this year are professional teams with years of experience. They will determine its fate, not you or I.

Here, here. Sounds like good advice. Several people are watching this series with interest. Lets give it a chance to get its house in order and then decide as to its merits or lack of them

If the organisers can't police basic rules like car weights and air restrictors it doesn't say much for the professionalism of US F2000.

He made it. The USF2000 will have a non-championship double-header round at Laguna Seca on May 20-23, sharing track with the Pacific F2000 and supporting the ALMS and Star Mazda. The Championship class winner will get an extra US$ 10,000 from track owner and series engine supplier Mazda.

Daniel Erickson won the pole for the opening round of the F2000 series at Virginia. Victor Carbone took the race win from Erickson - is Erickson doing the whole series?

Q2 & R2 are tomoz!

Apparently not, unfortunately. He isn't listed in the times from Friday's practice/testing session. I believe that an official statement is forthcoming.

Great guy. I really hope he gets a budget together and is racing sooner rather than later.
