Ozzies: How is the Monaro going over there?

Its just arrived here now, and we've been invited to the launch at our big GM dealer next friday, they have a Monaro and GTO coupe. Im probably going to buy one (Monaro), the wife loves the green colour, but I think they need that rear spoiler kit on it. Any probs over there with the cars, and are there many on the roads?

NOOOOO!

Dachau, don't you dare spoil that beautiful rear end, by sticking a spoiler on it!

As far as I know, they are selling pretty well. Holden always said their supply was going to be less than demand. But you do see a few on the roads. And you don't see many in dealerships.

I actually saw two last night on my way home. I'm not exactly a HSV/Holden fan, but still I don't like it... If I had enough money to waste on something like that, I would probably spend it on something that I could race...

my boss just picked up his HSV monaro, and the spoiler kit looks quite horrible compared to the standard version.
what are they priced at over in NZ????

I don't like the HSV rear wing much myself. Looks better without it, but then I prefered the concept car with the VT rear end.

There is an HSV GTO occassionally parked out front of where I work in the morning and it doesn't look that good, though that could be because it is yellow

The price for a Monaro in in NZ is $63 000 for a V6 blown one and $73 000 for a V8. I think the HSV ones look aweful, the front of them are shocking.

calais, the Monaro feels the same but with only 2 doors

I've driven both SS and XR8 and to be honest, I wasn't too impressed by either.

if i had to choose i would go for the SS, for the simple fact that the ford is still damn ugly.
as for the monaro. the body kit on the HSV models looks absolutely horrible.
my boss has a yellow GTO with yellow interior and it looks absolutey tacky!!

I'd rather the XR8, but then maybe the marketing guys have done their thing on me.

There is no class in buying HSV, it's just another Holden.

i used to drive an XR8 when i worked for ford, and it was a horrible car.
no power, drank like hell, and the interior looked loike a taxi's intrior.
the holden's werent much better!!!
i still cant see why anyone would pay $100,000 for a GTS when it is just a tarted up version of a $30,000 commodore

but its better that hearing the droning sound of an AUTO commie with drivers that think that they are hot **** "look at me man, i can do a single wheel burnout, cos i cant afford a LSD"

actuall today i was laughing quite hard today whan a guy at skool with a VL commie brought it to skool today and he had drifted it into a lightpost and was trying to keep the back of his car together with duct tape

lesson: v8s and autos are not made for drifting, especcially with an openwheeler diff

What didn't help the XR8 was that the steering wheel was a little too low for me at its highest setting. And both cars, especially the SS, had awful gearboxes.

Anyway, I'm much happier with my little Impreza RS and it cost less too

I got to have a drive of a Monaro CV8 at work today. And unfortunatly I was very unimpressed. The ride was very harsh, more so the my VPSS with the same size wheels and tyres. The engine is still way to quiet and it is still top endy. It seems nice but it looks a whole lot better than it drives

Umm,

I had a look at one at the local dealer today. Sure does look good - and yes I'm a Ford fan. So Colin I won't ask for a test drive so that I can remain all superior.

But it looked good in red.

Far out, what is happening to me.
