Tradgety for NISSAN fans!

The cargo boat carrying the last batch of Nissan S15 200sx has sunk in the shipping channels coming from Japan. The crew were all thankfully rescued but the shipment of 300 Nissan 200SXs is now on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean!

thats it, the last S15s made

I'd take a water logged example. What a shame.

I almost put on the UK Nissan 200SX club forum, quite glad I did not at the time. But I have now so us Brit's can have a good chuckle at you good ol' boy's in the Colonies.

It's also not fair that the S15 is not available in the UK, just a handfull of Jap Imports on the road.

Thanks for the link

Simon

Well, at least you know the ship didn't sink. Unlike the one carrying 50 Lancia Aurelia B24s (out of 240 ever made), which sank just before the NY harbor in 1956. Wonder if anyone tried to fish any of those out?

I had a mate in Sydney that made his fortune by fixing rust in Datsuns (Nissans) between the wharf and the showroom!

He must have done a really good job then Morrie, because my folks have owned 12 Datsuns/Nissans and only two of them rusted, and they were both Australian made.

The imported cars sometimes sat around the holding yards in western Sydney for a couple of years before being sold without the salt being washed off from the trip from Japan! This also led to the compliance plates being fitted when the cars arrived not when they went to the dealer!
Some of the Aus built cars had a corrosive body sealer that led to rust starting in unusual places like the middle of the bootlid on Bluebirds.

This might sound weird, but in Japan Nissan sports cars are regarded as the best out of other japanese manufacturers
