As I said I posted an article earlier which makes the allegation that Ryan Walkinshaw was spotted outside of Toyota HQ. Also as I said the true context and purpose of the meeting is unknown at this point it could've been anything from a performance deal to a potential Supercars program. Also you left out Alfa Romeo and KIA in that last

Despite musings from journalist(s) attached to the category that Lowndes may join them, seems Penske/DJR will maintain the same driver lineup for 2018, a good thing I would have thought.

Good move to keep the lineup, and fits in with a long-time Penske trait of keeping drivers for long periods of time (unless their names were Kevin Cogan, Andre Ribeiro, David Stremme and one Scott Pye of course)

Backagain has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

Surely it would be crazy to change such a great pairing that are obviously challenging each other to great results and working so well together.

Should we start a poll to see what new manufacturer will be linked to the series next year after this weekend?

Seems to be the trend over recent rounds

So... what will happen at Chez WP in 2018?
You can't imagine that Mr Courtney will want to continue with weekends like Perth. It's not the first one for them this year, or even past years.
It's very different doing that for a works team, with strong budgets and manufacturer support..

The back of garage Perthians were wondering whether there might be a spot found at Team Vortex for the next few seasons...

One wonders if there'll an express urgency on getting the old chassis pressed back into action.

What is behind this speculation? 888 would not dump Lowndes and would therefore require a rec to run an extra car. Perhaps DJR would like to run one more car!

Mr Lowndes is off deal at season's end...
Would be a perfect codriver for Mr Whincup for a few years..

Except that said driver is signed up until the end of 2019 reportedly with no drop in terms from his previous big bucks deal. Rightly or wrongly, WR decided he rather than Tander was the best driver to lead the team forward so can't see them giving him an early mark, although there could be performance/personnel based out clauses like he had at DJR. And with the 888 seat the only big one potentially available for 2018, where else is there to go?

Probably persona non grata after pulling out of the deal to run a car out of the garage in 2011. But money does heel all wounds.

Your information about the deal is not correct. By necessity JC had to take a very large haircut from what he was on previously.

That was the popularly held opinion, however Courtney's manager stated not so, but then he probably wouldn't admit it even if it were the case. [http://www.smh.com.au/sport/motorspo...7-grimrb.html]

Let me introduce you to driver managers...

JC took a massive pay cut to stay with the team.

I wouldn't admit to taking a paycut upon renewal of a contract. Pretty much devalues your stocks as soon as you try and move on.

Ultimately only the very few who are privy to the contract know for sure, the rest of us are just passing comment without the full facts.

THE JC Body language wasn't great at all, most of the weekend.

Maybe a new badge for the team might help. Couldn't be any worse at this stage could it ????

Can't have been more atrocious than the haircut that he was graced with on the weekend

Sepang interested after their F1 contract expires.

Could be interesting, I'll be missing it from the F1 calendar, be great to see the Supercars race around there.
