Salo: I want Jos at Toyota!
Mika Salo said in an interview with F1Racing.net in Valencia that he would want to have Jos Verstappen to join Toyota as a testdriver if he wouldn’t be able to stay at Arrows.
Verstappen’s position for next seson is still insecure, though he has a contract. Mika Salo was in the same position in the beginning of 1999, when we was sacked bij Tom Walkishaw, a week for the Australian Grand Prix. “It is sad what Tom is doing,” said Salo. “But to be honest I hope Jos will not be driving at Arrows, because I want him to join Toyota as a testdriver. I really like Jos,but of course it is not my team and not up to me to decide, but I defintly want Jos to drive for us.” Jos Verstappen and Mika Salo know eachother very well. Not a bad setup if it comes off. Just hope this isn't to Allan McNish's cost, who is a great driver and fully deserves his chance at this level.
