Red Bull's flexi-wings and Vettel's crash...

I found this video on the web of the onboard shot when Vettel hits Button into the Bus Stop.

Take a look at his front wing when he moves behind the McLaren then out into open air. Undoubtedly their wings are still flexing under load, but do you think this could have been a factor in Vettel losing control of his car?

AverageRaceFan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I think I see what you mean. The nose cone seems to twist when he pulls out of the slipstream. The right hand side sems to lift up which would decrease the downforce on that side of the cars spearing him to the right into Jensen.

it definitely looked unstable after he pulled out, but it looked more like he lost the rear and thats what steered him into Button to me.
A case of changing direction too quickly I think.

Mostly down to driver error and rapid change of direction coming out of the slipstream.

I think the reason was more because of the big change in downforce in clean air compared to in dirty air. When Vettel turned out of the dirty air his front wing hit clean air, massively increasing front end grip and therefore moving the balance towards oversteer. Then the weight and momentum of the rear end did the rest of the job, turning the car to the right into JB

Could this be another example of the 'Vettel Chop' - he put a chop onto Webber in Turkey and now puts it onto Button in Spa.

Vettel has - IMHO - a habit of making very agressive changes of direction (not that pulling out of a slipstream should be a 'gentle' affair) and this time he got caught out

I do think it was him being too aggressive, but I also think the front wing characteristics caught him out. He would have gone from having low front end grip to having massive front end grip when in clean air.
