The point you've just made is that Super Black has more to do with a Team playing a completely unrelated sport than it does to Team Kiwi Racing.

If the Holden Racing Team is HRT, Dick Johnson Racing is DJR and Brad jones Racing is BJR..... Perhaps the Super Black Racing name has less to do with a Rugby team and more to do with a couple of blokes from Pukekohe who used to own a team that did okay.

Right, so anyone who posts on here would probably know enough to know that they're quite different.... Suggesting that one of the seemingly more informed posters on here would only ask whether they were TKR MKII would only do so if they were trolling?

They would know that the team isnt associated with TKR's Mr John, that they have hooked up with Mr French to lease an FPR car & crew for the Bathurst weekend, that the car is painted matte black and gloss black, that the team is focused on being NZ-focused, that the team has signed two young drivers who are being given the opportunity of their racing lives, and that the car is not displaying signs of being massively commercially sponsored at the moment.

Where it gets to TKR MkII is that the raison d'etre of this squad isnt really out in the public realm.

A group of guys want to use their resources to take a tilt at the V8Supercar championship is easily understood. Certainly the reasons behind Mr Thexton making himself a V8SC driver were the envy of many of us who lacked the wherewithal to get to the same place in life.

To play the Kiwi card is interesting, and something that TKR tried to do too. The rest is still confusing, especially when it doesnt seem that their reported bid for a REC for 2015 is in train.

Yes, but I'm sure they wouldn't be too unhappy with all the extra publicity they would get if ambrose did drive the car. Would probably be a worthwhile proposition for both parties.

One would assume the one with the contract to race this year in that car, Mr David Wall, might disagree.

contracts are a piece of paper, Money talks in the v8 game and if wall gets his then Ambrose can be in the car if that is what is wanted

What benefit would there be for Ambrose to race at Homebush this year?

He hasn't sat in the CotF cars, he hasn't driven the track, there would unlikely be any test days left for him to have a steer beforehand. Better off to come out next year with a full pre-season of Penske funding and input & some time in the car testing

Plus what has David Wall done so wrong to deserve a mid-season sacking?

Why would you bump wall out early when you could just run a Wildcard entry?

Media frenzy, improved crowds. better return for sponsors

what has david wall done wrong, he is 20th in the championship, his team mate is 13th. Thus he has underperformed compared to his team mate who was racing for a podium today

Does that help the competitiveness of an Ambrose entry in a one-off scenario.

Jason Bright was going to stand down from his Britek drive when he was running a car out of Stone Brothers Racing in 2009 to allow Ambrose to make a one-off appearance at the Sydney 500, but the deal was keboshed by City Hall.

ok heres another thought. Marcos needs seat time for next year like you said

Isnt racing at homebush the perfect opportunity to get some seat time.

The only seat time he will get otherwise is the test weekend at SMP which is hardly enough if he wants to be in the championship hunt in 2015

I dont think he is allowed to race DVS because of credentials would be another option

DR have skipped a few test days too, so will have some up their sleeve. I guess we will find out Tuesday morning at the presser.

Dumbrell and Canto, both DVS champions go back to race there, I can imagine the DVS TV figures would go like crazy of Marcos did go there....

I don't think anyone would stop him racing in the DVS. I don't think he's ever actually raced in the DVS(or V8 lites as it was back in the beginning).

Is there anything stopping Penske shipping a COTF car over to the US for a bit of 'promotional' running. The tyres would be different but that would be about it. I'm sure they'd have easy access to a number of different tracks.

If Ambrose were to race in DVS he would need to be CERTAIN he would destroy the field, else it would be very bad publicity indeed.

If Morris can get into the top 10, in a halfway decent car Ambrose would spank that field.
