It can be a good chance for Fred to take his first podium, he has struggled a little bit so far...

Still in the planning stages. Apparently, some representatives from US manufacturers will visit the DTM round at the Norisring, to get a closer look at the series specs.

On a similar note, the head of Nismo's motorsport activities, Jerry Hardcastle, has denied any possibilities of Nissan entering DTM. He argues that the DTM is too expensive, too "German" and doesn't tell any stories Nissan could potentially use for marketing (Unlike a victory at the 24 hours at the Nürburgring for example). So it seems that Nismo doesn't like the DTM regulations, which begs the question why they agreed to SuperGT adopting DTM regulations in the first place.

On a side note, the V8 Supercars are pretty much "Australian", and not really known to a (casual) worldwide audience...

Common regulations. Not common race weekends. Its easier now for DTM makes to get a GT500 car/team. And could be a big coming together in the U.S.? We will see soon enough.

GT300 haven't run 300 hp in a long while, if they ever did.

As far as I know, GT500 currently runs ~550 hp and JAF GT300 ~450 hp.

I imagine Australia is probably more important a market than Germany for Nissan, Nissan probably considers V8 Supercars a better ROI all things considered.

Wish that swan neck wing would be used as common parts for a future GT500 car...

Tsugio Matsuda & JP de Oliveira pole position Super GT (GT500) class at Sepang circuit and second grid Yuji Tachikawa & Kohei Hirate. Takashi Kobayashi & Shinichi Takagi pole position Super GT [GT300] at Sepang circuit qualifying.

Huge mistake by Naoki Yamamoto who went with his Weider HSV-010 into the gravel. He threw away a possible pole. Starts from 8th.

Yeah, the boost the 300 car's have gotten is great, if they hadn't, I reckon they'd be gone and GT3 would have taken over

The privateers JAF-GTs are gone. The ones remaining are pretty much works teams, and they are not in the competition to lose to off-the-shelf customer cars and will do whatever it takes eventually, budget not withstanding. So it is not such a surprise to see them at the front. The real test for the BoP will be with the Dome mother chassis. If the cars built around that are competitive against the GT3s, then the JAF-GTs will make a comeback. I really hope so, because the mix of world class GTs competing against local exotica is one of the best aspects of Super GT, and it is a bit lost at the moment.

I also would like to see more of the JAF GT cars, otherwise GT300 would just turn into another national GT3 championship

Super GT has to go international or it will lose asian market to GT Asia eventually. But GTA is always very japan centric. They want to keep the revenue stream and activity in Japan, especially the GT300 teams. That is why they are super cautious. Cancelled round in Korea is typical. They could not see immediate return, just spending, so they cancelled. JRP is more forward thinking.

Was a good race. Too bad for the Weider. That stall in the pits took away the win.

Indeed, it was a great race and a big shame about the Weider stalling in the pits. They were the fastest car out there and Yamamoto's pass for the lead was incredible.

Really? Except for Malaysia and Macau, I don't think that adding other East Asian countries to the Japanese Super GT will generate interst. Only F1 can attract decent crowds, even in China.
