Chinese consortium to buy Jordan

There are reports in China that a Chinese consortium will buy Jordan and establish Team China in F1. The details will be announced before Nov 15. The guy in charge is called Guo Jie.

The rear wing endplates will display the Chinese flag. PetroChina is mentioned as the most likely sponsor.

The team will remain in the UK and Eddie Jordan will help to establish a driving academy designed to train young (12+ years-old) Chinese drivers, in order to groom them for the team in the future.

David Coulthard has been mentioned as one of the likely drivers for the team next year.

they didn't sound to optimistic about jordan during itv's qualifiying show last night. james allen reckoned the paddock rumours say they may be shutting down next week.

I heard that Rich, I really hope it's not the case. F1 can't afford to lose any more teams, and whether winning or losing Eddie embodies the spirit of F1, and harks back to the days when you could build a competitive team from scratch.

Wouldn,t surprise me one bit. The Chinese culture is more technically oriented than the Middle East. Chinese kids are far more interested in engineering than those in and around Dubai. Their demographic and work ethic should make us all take notice; and not just regarding F1 either.

Next thing ya know they'll be flying manned spacecraft (wait...they're allready doing that !)

Two graphics released regarding Team China.

The plan is to buy Jaguar, but if that fails then the consortium will go for Jordan.

Believe it or not.

I don't know that Chinese kids are more interested in engineering than Arab kids. Those are the two demographics that are seem particularly interested in such things. In fact the university I received my computer engineering degree from over here in Canada, there were more Arab kids than Asians and I'd say overall population wise there are more Asian people than Arab people over hear.

Once the Arabians, then the Chinese... mmmhhh always potential buyers worldwide for Jordan; curiously, all the rumours prove rubbish in the span of a few days... That's what I expect from this umpteenth phantom story.

Just thought of something.
Is it very likely that the fia will enforce the cutoff date for entries into next years champs???
Sure, mad max does alot of incredibly dumb things but he,after all,is the one constantly saying that f1 can't afford to lose any more teams.
Surely -after forcing everybody else to make huge changes-he wouldn't do nothing himself?!

There has to be a deadline though, because it will have a significant effect on the other teams.

If a Jaguar deal isn't concluded by the 15th, then Ford will face a stark choice.

They will either have to submit a 2005 entry, in order to try and conclude a sale over the next few weeks and maintain the FIA benefits to sell with the team, or miss the deadline and find the teams worth cut down to asset value.

I do. they are for sale for different prices and conditions. These prices and conditions may be right for some to buy Jag. Rac. and for others to buy Jordan.

It's all looking positive for both "Son-of-Jaguar" and Jordan to be on the grid next year.
