Hard to tell from those pictures, but I don't think the car in the picture...
...looks any wider that the Kristoffersson Motorsport car...
...but the profile is a little different. If I understand the rules correctly they are allowed to add a maximum of 140mm to each wing.

I would think the benefits by far outweigh the disadvantages of moving the radiators to the rear... but I'm sure VW Motorsport would have good reason to disagree if that's what they have done!
