Super Touring Car Championship 2015

Really interesting to see more super touring cars coming out of hiding for the 2015 season.

Testing this week was the ex-Roland Asch Opel Vectra from Team Irscher in 1999 STW season. Simon Garrad & Johnny Westbrook have acquired this from Bosnia of all places!

And another new car for the series being prepped and rebuilt by AWS Engineering: the 1996 Andy Rouse Engineering Ford Mondeo, originally built for their Ford contract although never raced in the BTCC. Instead it ended up with Josef Kopecky in the Czech Touring Car Championship and Central European championship between 96 and 98.

Beautiful. I have their facebook page linked and plan to have a flick through their handy work later on tonight. Looks like the are offering remanufacturing of the componentry too, which is great.

The news everyone must have been waiting for in this championship, the return of the Volvo S40!

This is Gianni Morbidelli's 1998 car. Rickard Rydell owns the car he raced whilst Volvo purchase the third car raced that year. That makes this car the 1998 Chassis #004, purchased by Jason Minshaw in 2014.

Rydell owns the Morbidelli car chassi #2 Volvo have the championship winning Rydell Chassis #1 in their Museum chassis #3 got destroyed at Bathurst and mine chassis#4 was used for a couple of races by Rydell in 98 but most of the time just a spare .

It obviously wasn't used much and a tramp was found sleeping in it I seem to remember !
