Carpentier for Canada?

Just been reading a couple of news snippets saying CART winner and IRL driver Patrick Carpentier could be racing for Team Canada in the near future.
Here is a link (although crash.net seems to be down at the moment).

Looks like he will be in for the NA events.
He won at Laguna Seca, so it may be a nice little venture.

Still hope Sean will get a ride in testing. It would be nice to give the kid a shot at a track close to home.

You can understand why they would want someone with Patrick's profile racing in North America if they can get him, but it would have to be slightly disappointing for Sean if he misses out.

On the other hand, I look forward to watching Patrick come to terms with a completely different "beast".

Good news to have Carptentier in the series, certainly helps raise A1's profile. IMO. That said I do hope we see McIntosh racing again later in the season, hes done a really good job so far and I think its only a matter of time until he snatches a podium finish.

Indeed it is, but maybe one day something almost as good could happen. Have 2 qualifying sessions, 1 for each race and a differnt driver for each session. 1 driver starts the sprint race and the in race 2 the other driver starts. This could be made obligatory or optional. Soon all the nations will have 2 cars after all. Only problem is there wont be a spare car.

for one of the 2 races a 2nd driver is already optional.

to keep this real. this would make 44-48 cars , which might fit into a superspeedway but on most road courses they wouldnt

Then perhaps if we want to see more drivers in the races the best way is to make it obligatory rather than optional?

well maybe a 30 car cut off could be introduced , bring back the good old days of when trying to qualify actually meant trying to qualify

but my main point was Macintosh has done well so far it would be a shame if he was just pushed out.

Nice idea, but would need to be doctored in such a way so that the Russians and Lebanese of this world didn't always miss out. So maybe one car from each nation plus the 5/6 fastest second cars might work. One for the wish list I think
