Heebeegeetee should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Anyone been to Pau?

I'm going to Pau in May to see the historic races. I went a few years back when lending a hand to a mate who was racing, but i want to go as a speccie to get to see a lot more.

I'm looking for advice on making my way round the circuit, best places to see, do i need a grandstand ticket, etc.

Grateful for any help guys, cheers.

Mike.

Not yet been to the historic meeting, but was at the F2 in 81,F3000 in 85,86 & 92.I think the Virage Foch was the best stand, though just about anywhere will provide better view than any british circuit I think for the historic meeting you should have no trouble getting tickets on the day after seeking out what suits you best.

I went there for a British F3 round in 2006 - what a fantastic circuit!!!

I wouldn't advise a grandstand ticket, go for general admission and get to see more of this beautiful street circuit. The steep banking at the first turn is a great viewing spot, as is the bit over looking the section between there and the bridge.

Beware of side roads on the bottom half of the circuit, as it's likely they will all be fenced off with no viewing, you can walk miles to get a view, even with a media pass. I almost missed the Friday evening practice as a result.

Went there for WTCC last year and going again this year.

IMO go to Parc Beaumont in the middle of the circuit as you will get a great view of the infamous Foch Chicane and also the fast curving approach to it by the casino.

As Hubble said the view over the first corner (Virage Gare) is good from the banking below the Boulevard Des Pyrenees. I had grandstand tickets last year at the Tribune Prost for raceday which is also good.

Have a look at this link as it includes a snazzy map of the circuit.

Other areas viewing is a bit limited but the challenge of the circuit is still there along with its fabulous history.

Enjoy the trip!

We tended to eat in a 'pub' called RESTAURANT BRASSERIE TAVERNE MAITRE KANTER in RUE ALFRED DE LASSENCE. I had magret de canard au peche a few times in there - fantastic (duck breast with peaches). And we also visited a club just across the street from there which was fun. A few nice bars along the route on the way back up to the main town from the circuit part too.

All in all a fantastic place, can't think of a better setting for motorsport. Top of my list
