These drivers bring these sponsorship monies with them - why would that be?

Bearing in mind Jeldwen sponsor St Kilda in the AFL ...

Mr Winterbottom has driven an Orrcon-sponsored car for 4 of his 5 seasons in the topline category... its not an impossible situation to see this sponsor move from one team to another, indeed they followed Larko from LMS to a minor sponsor at WPS, then FPR offered a full car space for allegedly similar dollars and they moved....

In the new "BLUE" vs "RED" world, you would think that the "Cobra" design from last year's latter stages wont be seen again... even though it is the cleanest of any of the Orrcon designs so far....

Look at how CAT left FPR and went to Britek. Why?? Because they like Jason or the way Jason works. Same with Castrol coming back into the mix at FPR when Steve came along. For some sponsors, having a particular name or face associated with there sponsorship dollar and associated programs spun off from the sponsorship works for them. You only have to look at NASCAR to see how picky some sponsors can be and how they'll follow a driver if he switches teams.

Mind you some sponsors have no idea. Like Valvoline, who have bought in Ponting to replace Laws. Most car nuts know that Laws has a good taste in cars, but what credentials has Ponting in this area?? Then again, what does Courtney know about doors and windows and Winterbottom about steel. Like Ponting they might look good on a poster and that's all the sponsor cares about.

If the stories are right, it is alleged that Mr Wood Sr owns the 2 current Tasman cars, that Mr Marshall Sr owns the much maligned #26, that Mr Matthias owns the current #111 car, while Mr Scott Sr owns #021...

Dont share your view Denosaur. Most decisions have a commercial imperative unrelated to posters.

Just going to throw something out there, but with the fascination of the NASCAR series in Australia with Marcos Ambrose's whirlwind career over there, could there be a boomerang effect with either a up-and-coming or fading US driver coming out to the V8 Series?

Given that Owen Kelly has his name thrown around in the States and Boris Said competing this year at Bathurst could it be a way for a struggling team to get some US money into the series, and possibly a US V8 race in the distant future?

Just a random thought....

Not having drivers tied to manufacturers... Another step towards a third manufacturer?

Also on the V8 Site, a story on Alex Davison 'undecided' on his future here or in Europe. I probably have missed something, why is Alex all of a sudden in hot demand ?

He sat on the sidelines for a year, and langished in Carrera Cup (by his standards) for a year after the Autobahn effort of 2005. His endurance efforts have been stellar, but he has been overlooked in the past frequently. No question he could be a star, but why the sudden interest in him from the paddock ?

Is it just that Will has been doing so well so everyone now wants a Davo ?

Story goes that Team Kiwi will run a 4th Falcon out of FPR shop next year. Kiwi driver to be Pither.

Backing from Kanga + Makita + Tribro, and very little to do with that John fella.

Remember, you heard it here first!

28 at PI, the demise of TKR widely rumoured, thats 27 - where are the other 3 coming from GTR?

Who holds the dormant franchises now that will be active in 09?

Any additional sponsors with 'a bag of gold'??

TKR shall be reborn.. or so the story goes.. prepared by SBR.. allegedly..

PWR's 2008 car licence is allegedly to be absorbed by WP... for Mr Skaife... allegedly..

Mr Walden's 2008 car licence is for sale.. to be absorbed by interests associated with seeing Mr Courtney at FDT... allegedly..

Everybody else stays the same, ownership wise anyway..

.. and there is a grid of 30 cars, 16 Holdens, 14 Fords. Allegedly
