Things begin to be defined. Hamilton, Rosberg and Sutil have busted his dear team mates and Alonso is in the process to do the same in Ferrari (if stewards allow it ).

McLaren's case goes on being interesting. Button does an excellent job taking points, but in terms of pace he is out of reach behind Lewis.

Of course in the "Wing Team" things are very close, to Horner&Marko's dismay. In the junior team, Toro Rosso, Buemi is recovering and is starting to crush Alguersuari.

  • For the first time since Bahrain, Vettel (minutely) outperforms Weber. Anyway, it is absolutely no significant.
  • Funnily, Mercedes's is the most unbalanced pair. Michael now has reached the new adjective "Utterly Busted". A first in this type of statistic
  • Alguersuari has literally walked over poor Buemi (in the first lap) and because of that he has now closed the gap.
  • In Ferrari, McLaren, Force India and Williams the faster driver has busted his team mate, even if Hamilton and Sutil were not in their best form/luck.

I still think it's astounding that Button has been statistically trounced by Hamilton and yet is still his closest championship rival.

Well, statistics only have the importance which are placed on them.

Statistics are 100% always faultlessly correct.

It is only fancies which consider the justness of such things.

This stat says Button is clearly slower than Lewis. "Clearly" is not the same as "much" but it's more "regularly". Jenson shows he is a good "scorer" on Sundays, that is what WDC is about, but if F1 were like Olympic 100 meters he would not have chance.

For what it's worth, I'd rather Button be the World Champion again.

I'd like it too, but unfortunately for Jenson he has the best driver in the world on the other side of the garage.

At the end Vettel had an advantage over Webber, BUT it is not statistically significant. It means that advantage COULD be just by chance and could change if the championship had continued longer.

Alonso, Rosberg and Sutil completely proved they performed better than their team mates along this season. Hamilton beat Button in a way almost as conclusive.

Alguersuari and Buemi are locked in a notorious equality, the minor gap between them easily explained by random events.

I'm sorry (well, not much ) I didn't make the table including all the teams from the beginning of the season , but at the end it had been too tiresome to do for a complete season

Correction: ALO-MAS score is 44-13 instead of 43-14, the percentage 100% is right anyway.

Breaking the table in totals by qualifying, fast laps and race scores, we get the following figures:
Code:
TEAM     QUAL  FAST   RACE
===========================
VET-WEB  12-7   9-10  12-7
ALO-MAS  15-4  15-4   14-5
HAM-BUT  13-6  12-7   12-7
SCH-ROS   4-15  8-11   5-14
SUT-LIU  16-3  13-6   12-7
BAR-HUL  13-6  10-9   13-6
BUE-ALG  11-8   8-11   8-11
===========================
There are drivers who were relatively better in fast laps than in qualifying: Webber, Schumacher, Hulkenberg, perhaps Alguersuari. On the other side, naturally, Vettel, Rosberg and Barry stood out in saturdays. Others were uniformly better on both days: Alonso, Hamilton, perhaps Sutil (although he was marginally better on quals than on races).

There can be some differences in qualifying scores due to issues related with grid penalties for changing engines or gearboxes, so there are differences between grid positions and grid times. Of course there can happen some errors here and there in the table, I hope they are few and isolated.

Good information and a useful comparison. Perhaps we need to note that grid penalties shouldn't be included but that might be a lot of extra work.
Hulkenberg was a lot closer to Barrichello onn race laps than qualifying but that didn't translate into race placings.
So qualifying is really important. Same with Webber and Schumacher.

Buemi outqualified easily Algy but Algy outraced him. Sutil out-qualified Liuzzi comprehensively but it was closer in the races.
