To be honest I don't know what you are saying. In your previous post, #1323 you say "Revenue for 2013 isnt decreasing" and now in this post you say "I am not saying revenue is up", so which is it? The table is there to show falling TV ratings. I don't understand why you think it should have something to do with TV revenue?

From what I understand not all TV advertising contracts are necessarily fixed on an annual basis, though most are, like Umbrella deals. However, there are Line by Line deals and Burst deals, so why don't you do some research on TV advertising contracts regarding IndyCar, from which this thread and the IndyCar section of the forum can benefit?

We're going over the same old ground, again. There are no official track attendance figures, therefore like Bryce Miller, I'm perfectly within my right to do some quick math and make an educated observation. it has nothing to do with being a moderator.

Cave-ins take:
Quote:
Remember when people didn’t know what Versus was or where they could find IndyCar Series races on the NBC Sports Network? That all changed Tuesday. NASCAR made the cable channel of two-thirds of IndyCar’s current season a future motor sports destination by announcing a 10-year deal that starts in 2015.
NBC and its cable partner, the NBC Sports Network, will have the final 20 races of each Sprint Cup Series season with 19 Nationwide Series races plus three lower-division series and auxiliary programming. It also has Formula One, which means it has three major motor sports properties.
Through 2024, NBC will carry seven Sprint Cup races per year; the other 13 will be on the NBC Sports Network. From the Nationwide side, four races will go over the air; 15 will be on cable.
The Sprint Cup races in the fall are expected to be lead-ins to NBC’s Sunday night NFL programming.
The biggest unspoken in Tuesday’s announcement is that NASCAR is leaving ESPN, which has been a key partner in the explosion of stock car racing over the past three decades.
Will there be a void that IndyCar can fill? Not unless there’s a mutual agreement to end a contract for races to be carried by the NBC Sports Network through 2018.
IndyCar would be wise to let this television shakeup play out. One of two things will happen: IndyCar will either get shuffled out of the NBC Sports Network’s NASCAR-heavy rotation or its ratings will get a boost because of the network’s strengthened brand identity. The latter seems more likely.
Remember, too, what Sam Flood, the executive producer of NBC Sports and the NBC Sports Network, told The Star last month: “It’s always important to look strongly at scheduling, especially of other (motor sports properties). Having your own (TV) window is important.”
Sharing a channel with NASCAR will help that. NBC Sports officials should want both sports to grow.
The number of households with the NBC Sports Network figures to increase as NASCAR races approach, and that almost assuredly will benefit IndyCar’s ratings.
IndyCar might feel the urge to get out of NASCAR’s way and move back to ESPN, but it should proceed cautiously with that line of thinking. NASCAR might have just handed IndyCar a television game-changer.

If you want to count seats you can. All I have to do is look at pictures of the empty stands and the shear number of venues the league has shed throughout it's existence. It's left to run doubleheaders as it is running out of places to go. Getting in these trivial internet debates whether a race has 7000 fans or 9000 fans or a 11000 is a waste of time, especially with someone half a world away. All that matters is if that race lives or dies and plenty of races and venues associated with the league have died.

Also when a supposed iconic track and race central to American open wheel racing has tens of thousands of seats taken out last winter, again proof is in the results.

Nascar in contrast has no shortage of takers or those lobbying for a race date.

Its actually 4,833.33%.. but when the number is so far apart, its not that important

When you are basing your crowd figures off what you see on tv - where is the difference in where we view it from?

And 15 or so are living? With new venues added in 2013, so there is some interest from circuit venues isnt there?

Also saw today that Panther Racing may expand into USCR. Not sure how this will go, as I am under the assumption that they can hardly afford to be competitive in Indycar. Perhaps jumping ship to a greener pasture elsewhere?

Lucas Luhr used to drive for Audi in DTM and sportscars over here in Europe and when he found himself to be a better sportscar driver than DTM, he moved to racing sportscars only, again with Audi. DTM fans didn't quite understand why he did not stay for longer than one season but he really is a great sportscar driver. I remember a rumor from a while back that Audi was talked to by IndyCar about maybe becoming an engine supplier. Yes, I know, Luhr has driven Hondas lately but still ... this is interesting, especially since it comes so out of the blue.

You do realize Lucas is still very rightfully bitter at Audi for dropping him from the program despite his teammates making more mistakes than he did right???

He has NOTHING to do with Audi anymore, and it's the same logic as saying Rubens Barrichello was a path for Ferrari to Indycar.

Now THIS is what I expected from Lucas Luhr's involvement, not Audi. Muscle Milk would be a fantastic addition to the series, especially if they went all out with a top quality driver like Lucas.

Interesting to see how Lucas Luhr will do. Cars almost seem sportcarish so he won't be that much of a fish out of water.
