Yep, woody is right.

I've been using A-bit for the past 5 years. They're great boards.

I've never used an Asus, but I know people who have them and they love them.

No way, go for genuine Intel. A bit more expensive though, but not by much... Anyway, all of them use same Intel chipsets. Check Intel's site and chose your motherboard considering:
- do you need RIMMs, what kind and how many slots do you need
- how many PCI slots available
- do you need integrated network card
- integrated video, but I don't suppose you'd want to use it.

I say an i850 chipset based motherboard is what you need, 850EMV2 or 850EMD2.

PS: Can't figure it out what the home network problem might be, that would force you to use SDRAMs. Also, since you already have a P4/2.6GHz system why do you need to replace the motherboard.

lol. Back to basics here. I have no idea what a Motherboard is, or why you can't be content with the one you had in the first place...

I cannot conceive of any circumstances in which I'd accept integrated video. Not much chance of driving GPL with that!

Integrated audio, perhaps (I actually had that, but I've added a soundcard).
