They really need to add more car noise to the audio mix on those streams... as it is right now, also with the rather unenthusiastic commentator, it's all feeling very clinically and detached.

Great racing.
Disastrous season so far for Gleason. |

Estoril is one of those forgotten tracks that used to conjure up moments in F1, so it is nice that touring cars are there now. Morbidelli jumped pole-sitter Homola at the start, but within a lap the Slovakian was ahead. Tassi slid off at turn 1, Gleason, the forgotten man, retired with a dud engine, and Rangoni's Subaru self-destructed. I felt a bit sorry for Pellinen, outbraking himself, and losing places more than once into turn 1. After being stuck behind, Morbidelli finally took his chance on Homola, struggling with his tyres, on lap 12. Vernay followed suit with a great, late lunge, a few corners later, and team-mate Comini passed Homola on the next lap. A first win of the year for Morbidelli and a first for a non-Seat.
Pole-sitter Hezemans bogged down on the start in the second race. Falling back, he was clouted by Pepe Oriola, breaking the car, and he parked at the pit exit. Nash then picked up the lead and ran off into the sunset. Pepe Oriola fell further and further back during the race. Borkovic retired with overheating, ending a bad weekend all-round for the Serbian, and Rangoni twice spun out of contention in his Subaru, the second time for good. Vernay's undertray broke in the late stages and he fell back into the clutches of Afanasyev and Morbidelli. Nash cruised to victory, with only Comini coming close to challenging. Morbidelli capped off a fine weekend with a great drive from 9th to 3rd. Morbidelli was the main beneficiary from the weekend as he now leads the series on 70 points, but Nash is only 1 point behind. Pepe Oriola had a bit if a stinker, as did Borkovic. I would like to mention Mora, a pair of points finishes on his local track were well-deserved. But heading to Spa-Francorchamps, the series is wide open, many cars and drivers are looking pretty even. Plus, the track is awesome, so I'm looking forward to it. |

Morbidelli simply the best, fantastic races... a fastest lap with 49.0 in the second race is sensational!
Troubles for Oriola, but just a bad weekend. However, after the Bahrain round I said that Nash would have been a problem for the Spaniard during the season and the British has duly confirmed that in Portugal. With the ballast bonus, VWs came back in business with Vernay and Comini. The French will surely be a tough opponent for the reigning champion, also. I'm thinking about the amazing lap time that Larini should have done in Valencia tests to assign Golfs that ballast for the first round Borković and Gleason so unlucky, but the latter has not convinced me so much in Estoril. Now going to Spa-Francorchamps. Curious about Peugeots! |

The illustration looks nice; we'll see when the car hits the track.

It's a shame to see Monza off the calendar, the races there last year were fantastic.

With the SEAT Leon used in lot of lower tier series it's not a surprise to see other TCR cars. We will see them more in future, especially if there gonna be 2nd hand cars.

Bad luck for Morbidelli, it never changes... but Oriola and Nash took few points, so good for the championship.
Also good to see Vernay beating Comini. |
