Bill de Selincourt

Very remiss of me not to post it earlier but I have to tell you that Bill left us on October 11th in his 94th year. I didn't go to his funeral which was family only but I was honoured to be asked to his memorial service as a eulogist.
Bill won The Motor Sport Trophy, The Autosport Championship and was 2nd in the Freddy Dixon Trophy in 1959 and in that same year finished 4th at the 'Ring in a Fitzwilliam Elva and won at Cadours in a drive which saw him beat a field containing 5 drivers who had or would contest World Championship events. In succeeding years he was twice class runner up at the ADAC 10000 KMs and drove Listers, E types, Coopers, Lotus 11s & 19s, Chevrons and his old TR3A which he bought back and rebuilt in the early 70s.
It is sad that he went before our plans for his 95 came to fruition, we aimed to shoehorn him into his TR and Lister, and with the already obtained permission whirl him round Snetterton.
He will be thoroughly peeved to have missed it.
Goodbye to a true "Gentleman driver"

A name I haven't heard of for some years but well remember reading of his racing prowess when I was a youngster. Great to see that he made a good age. Thank you for your most informative post, John

RIP - Bill de Selincourt
